Proper care of a palm tree at home requires you to take into account that plants can not tolerate cold and drafts, so you can not put them on a cold floor or window sill in any case. The optimum room temperature for growing is from 14 to 22 C. Caution is required when ventilating the room in the winter to prevent drafts.
Palm trees are plants that love moisture, so watering them has some specific features: in the summer this procedure should be carried out daily, and in winter - much less often. It is advisable to do this with warm water on one and the second side of the sheet. Spraying in summer should be carried out no more than 3 times a week, in winter - once every six to seven days. When the plant dries, the leaves of the palm may turn yellow. They need to be cut so that a thin strip of dried over the living tissue remains. As for transplantation, it should be borne in mind that a young palm tree needs to be replanted every year, an adult - on average 1 time in several years (from two to four years). The optimal transplant time, as a whole and for other plants, is spring. Roots damaged and rotted are removed. It is advisable not to damage healthy roots in the process, as otherwise they will simply die. Important: the transplant must be performed while maintaining a solid lump of earth at the root. Young plants sit in light soils, later on when replanting, the soil of sod species is added. When choosing a pot, it should be borne in mind that it should not be low, and for some types of palm trees (for example, date palm), it is advisable to choose a pot of a narrowish shape. It is also necessary to provide a good drainage layer (it can be pebbles, preferably large, or stones with sand). When planting or transplanting palm adult plants, it is worth adding clay to the soil.
Caring for a palm tree at home also involves feeding this amazing plant. In summer, top dressing is done approximately once every one and a half weeks, in winter - less often (once every five to six days). After this, loosening of the soil is required to ensure air access to the roots.
