Thermal insulation of the facade - a necessity or a fad?

Now more attention is paid to the conservation of heat in homes. This is especially true for areas where winter is cold. To protect your home and keep the heat inside, it is better to think through all the methods in advance. Thermal insulation of the facade occupies a special place in this list, because up to 40% of heat can go through the walls. Even if you installed windows with double-glazed windows, but did not insulate the walls, it is unlikely that you will get a high temperature in the room. This is especially noticeable in corner apartments, where the number of street walls is greater.

Facade insulation
You can protect the walls from the inside or outside. Internal protection has its advantages. It is easier to perform, since there is free access to the walls. But the thermal insulation of the facade from the inside also has its drawbacks. First of all, it reduces the area of the room. In addition, the dew point, that is, the place where warm and cold temperatures occur, is located indoors, which means that dampness and mold can occur. And this is a completely undesirable option for living quarters.

Thermal insulation of building facades from the outside is more difficult, but it has its advantages. There are several systems for insulating facades. The use of plaster solves two problems at once, allows you to insulate and make the external finish of the wall. When using a light plaster system, fiberglass is used for stiffness, since the thickness of the plaster layer does not exceed 9 mm. This method can be applied to walls made of any material. But it is not very suitable for areas with low temperatures.

Thermal insulation of building facades

If the layer of plaster reaches 40 mm, then they speak of a difficult method of plaster thermal insulation. But special mounts are needed here to fix such a layer. For heat, you can use any insulation. Thermal insulation of the facade using plaster allows you to even out any irregularities in the wall and even give it a beautiful appearance. This can be solved in the color scheme by simply painting the wall, or creating a relief structure using special tools.

In addition to wet methods, there are other options. The system of thermal insulation of facades using ventilated technology involves a gap of air between the outer lining and the wall. This is a more time-consuming method, but it has found its application due to the ability to give the facade an elegant look. Insulation can consist of one or two different layers. The dew point is located between the exterior finish and the wall, which means that there is no contact with cold air indoors.

Facade insulation system

Thermal insulation of the facade using layered masonry is also possible. In this case, the wall is three-layer. First, a brick wall is erected, then a heater is laid and a second wall is raised. Sometimes instead of a brick, another material is used for the inner surface.

Any of the insulation options allows you to insulate the walls of the house, while maintaining maximum heat in the apartment. If you are starting to build your home, then it’s better to consider options that are more suitable for your area in advance. If you got a cold apartment, then try to insulate it in some accessible way. When buying new housing, pay attention to how walls are erected, what methods of thermal insulation are used by the construction company.
