Why is the child afraid? How to overcome children's fear of fears

In order to find out how to overcome fear of fears, I would like to talk a little about the reasons for the emergence and development of children's fears. The presence of this problem in the family suggests that this is not just the whims and tantrums of the child, but rather a serious cause for concern. Often a child develops a fear from the so-called suggestions of something terrible by mom or dad, for example, they are scared that he will be taken away by a “bogeyman”, a goblin or a policeman if he behaves badly, or they are constantly threatened that they will cut off his tongue or fingers for bad words or ridiculous waving, or mother will get sick and cry if the baby does not obey. Such examples can be cited for a long time and endlessly. Of course, everything said by the parents is said in jest, just to scare the baby. That only parents do not invent their child to be sweet, obedient and fulfill all their wishes, they only forget about one thing, that the child perceives everything that adults said as truth.

Fear of fears can arise already at the age of six months, when the baby sensitively reacts to the care of the mother, because next to her he feels completely protected, comfortable, cozy, and her eyes and her tender hands speak of complete well-being. But when the mother is not nearby, the absence of a close and dear person becomes a traumatic factor for the child. This manifestation can form a baby's fear of loneliness. Of course, this feeling dulls over time if the parents pay attention to the child’s words, for example, so that they don’t leave him somewhere at the age of two in the apartment or in the room before going to bed. Also, fear of fears can arise in front of strangers and strangers, just starting from eight months, the baby clings tightly to his mother, tries to turn away from people, cries, is capricious. At an unconscious level, he is afraid that these people will hurt him and something bad, and only after the person who first came to visit him will show love and warm feelings, this fear will begin to dull. In the opposite case, fear can develop and lead to the emergence of a phobia, if it does not reveal and work with the child on time.

It should be noted that at the age of three, when the baby is actively acquainted with the outside world, reading fairy tales, showing cartoons and various pictures, another fear of fears may arise in the form that the child is at an unconscious level afraid to die or get sick, it’s here because of comes the instinct of self-preservation. He can be afraid of fairy-tale characters, large dogs or other animals, ride a roller coaster, approach the water, night fears also appear in children, they sleep badly, fear punishment and much more. But very often, at the age of five and six years, children experience a fear of death, which is largely due to the peculiarities of the child's intellectual development.

Of course, almost all children have fears and nightmares, and in order for them not to turn into phobias, you need to quickly deal with them, for this you should constantly communicate with the child, be him a true friend who understands him in everything and who can always be trust. The big mistake of parents, which contributes to the onset of the baby’s anxiety state, is that they very often find out their personal problems and conflicts in front of the child. Therefore, if family conflicts are inevitable, sort them out without the presence of children. If the fear remains, parents urgently need to contact a specialist. Correction of fears in children is carried out by a child psychologist with the help of drawings, role-playing games, individual consultations with the help of which you can find out the true cause of the fear, in order to neutralize the origins and strengthen the belief that this fear does not do any harm to his life.
