The Battlefield series of games has become a landmark for many players in the action segment. The latest franchise project still holds the palm of leadership among competitors and is in great demand in the online space. But how did it all start? Once the legendary Battlefield was nothing more than a test game dedicated to the events of World War II.
Gradually, the project was consolidated and won fans. Of course, there were some falls that threatened directly the identity of the EA project. But now everything is behind us, and a class shooter with the coveted name is firmly associated with claims to the status of “Game of the Year”.

It all started with a rather ordinary shooter about World War II, which was released under the name Battlefield 1942. In the distant 2002, the ability to play on the Web without problems was perceived as a breath of fresh air in the shooter segment. Despite the player’s resources were limited to 16 battle scenarios, poor graphics, a relatively low level of “veracity”, and a lack of physics and elementary ballistics, the project’s debut was a success.
In 2003, two additions came out - Secret Weapons of WWII and The Road To Rome, which introduced new maps. The game had 5 sides and 32 pieces of equipment. In general, the project paid off and EA almost immediately announced the second part.
Battlefield: vietnam
Everyone wishes to study the list of all parts of Battlefield. It’s difficult to remember them in order. There are additions that are essentially the same. “Vietnam” was no exception. Despite the fact that he appeared in 2004, gamers continued to play in “1942” due to more extensive variations of sides and technique.
The concentration on the confrontation of only two parties appeared several times in the games of the Battlefield series and was again perceived by fans rather negatively. “Vietnam” was released exclusively for Windows, which, perhaps, also predetermined the fate of the project. Despite the lower rating, the game received an addition in which it returned “to the roots” - World War II Mod.
Battlefield 2
This time, the actions of the game are transferred to the present. Unlike previous projects, the shooter got more advanced graphics and mechanics. The player will act as a member of the special squad in the 21st century war on the side of the USA, China, the European Union, Russia or the countries of the Middle East.
The shooter is distinguished by deep study and immediately received three additions: Armored Fury, Euro Forces, Special Forces. According to critics, Battlefield 2 has become one of the best games of the online segment at the time and continues to be popular until now.
Battlefield 2142
According to fans, the highlight of the EA project was precisely in displaying the historical parallels of hostilities. When the list of Battlefield games replenished with a new brainchild, many turned away from the idol. The game, where the theater of operations unfolded in the dark future with a scenario of global cooling, did not receive a historical background, real models of weapons and equipment. All project innovations are in the "Titan" mode, supported when playing on the Web. But this was not enough for gamers.
Despite the low user ratings, the game found its segment. Those who were not familiar with the classics of the shooter segment found Battlefield 2142 an exciting game with an original idea, quite successful for 2007. The project received an addition - Northern Strike.

This mini-project is in the franchise about the adventures of a company of 4 soldiers who first became mercenaries, and then played the role of “good guys”. This is an extensive company that is uncharacteristic of Battlefield with a good storyline, so many players are still returning to the project as an interesting object for passing.
The plot is developing in conditional modernity with several amendments. The first part appeared in 2008, the second - in 2010. Many players consider this period the best for games in the Battlefield series. The exclusively online component of Bad Company was criticized, since the multiplayer mode did not receive innovations.

This part of the series turned out to be exclusive to game console owners. The project came out in 2009, the implementation on the PC was planned, but later it was turned off. It is a direct continuation of the first part of the series. A military clash takes place on the territory of three islands in the Pacific Ocean, the parties to the conflict are the Japanese Empire and the United States. The game does not extend to physical media and did not find a significant response among fans, since the developer cut the company and online mode.
Play 4 Free and Battlefield Online
They are not directly the brainchild of EA and are distinguished by their exclusive focus on multi-user mode. According to the name, Battlefield Play 4 Free is distributed on shareware basis. Battlefield 3

The direct continuation of the 3rd part of 2011, in which actions are taking place in the near future. Dramatic changes befell the plot component, but the equipment, weapons and AI remained the same, as a result of which the project was abandoned after the release and is now known mainly among fans.
Battlefield hardline
The brainchild of Visceral Games. In the game, the conflict takes place around the police and criminal elements. The release took place in 2015, but the explosive popularity, as the company had expected, did not happen. The game is interesting for a new milestone in the history of collisions, but it did not suffer drastic changes in the gameplay.
Battlefield 1
Among the games of the Battlefield series, Part 1 occupies a special place. This project received the title "Game of the Year" in 2016. The action takes place during the First World War, which even before the release caused a storm of condemnation from fans of the series. After the release, many were upset by the presence of a huge number of shortcomings and “leaky” protection from supporters of cheat codes.
Subsequently, EA corrected the situation and apologized, but the lion's share of fans did not return to this project. Later, an addition came out that brought a new map into the game and the opportunity to play for the Russians, but the high cost of the DLC led to a rather weak push of interest.
