The appearance of the gorilla is rather unusual. This is a huge animal, which is very similar to humans and has an incredibly smart look. Gorillas are both mountainous and lowland, but they all have a common ancestor with humans.
Scientists have proved that the intelligence level of some adult gorillas is commensurate with the intelligence level of a four-year-old child. And the gorilla has large nostrils, but why, if it is so similar in structure to a person, because we have small nostrils. What function do they perform?

There is even a playful mystery why the gorilla has large nostrils. The answer to it sounds quite childish: because she has thick fingers. And in this guess there is a hint that it is for convenience to pick your nose. And in childhood, many people believe in this, because animals can often really be seen behind this indecent occupation.
But here the matter, rather, is that the gorilla is simply not trained in the rules of etiquette and does not suspect that it is indecent. And who knows how many people would do this, if not picking his nose was indecent in society. After all, gorillas and people are similar to many other habits.
Why are they like that?
Everyone understands that the answer to the riddle is comic. And again the question arises: why are they so big? The most obvious answer may seem to smell prey. And partly true, because gorillas are predatory animals.
But there is another explanation: this is a visual effect that gives the very structure of their nose. It is wide among gorillas, and the nostrils are surrounded by ridges. If you look closely, their brow arches are surrounded by similar rollers. And in man, despite all the external similarities, there are no such ridges around the nose, and in this contrast the gorillas seem even larger. At the same time, their eyes are smaller than that of a person, and there are almost no lips at all - just a fold. All this together gives such a visual effect, as if their nostrils were unusually huge.
But no matter how ridiculous the riddle is, it is only partly comic. Yes, the size of the nostrils is not directly related to their love of cleansing the nose with fingers, but it is associated with their huge size as a whole. Gorillas are proportionally larger than humans. The average weight of an animal is 180 kg, and that of a person is 65 kg, and it is natural that their fingers are much larger than human fingers, like everything else.
