The basic forms of origami: "triangle", "square" and "frog"

If, after watching several videos about origami on the Internet or seeing a beautiful craft from friends, you are interested, it's time to try to master the basic elements yourself.

What are the main forms of origami called?

Origami art is finding new fans. Many people around the world develop this art and develop new schemes, expand opportunities. And there are more schemes for paper crafts every year. At the very beginning of the development of this art form, the basic forms of origami were called as follows:

  • bird;
  • frog;
  • fish;
  • kite.

Now there are a lot of blanks, including those that were already invented in the West, and not in the homeland of origami in Japan. It is very important to learn the simplest shapes: triangle, square, pancake, double square, fish, frog. If you go further, you will need to learn the workpiece "catamaran" and "bird", from which most kusuda (balls) are made.

To make a pancake shape, for example, you just need to bend 4 corners to the middle of a square sheet. The form is like a plain mail envelope. The blank “bird”, also known as “crystal”, also refers to the basic forms.

This is what the finished bird form looks like.

Basic origami shapes

The “bird” shape is made, like the “frog”, starting from the simplest square. It also resembles an even rhombus. From it they carry out the craft "crane" - a very famous and one of the oldest.

How to make a triangle shape?

To create any blank you need only colored paper of sufficient density, a ruler and scissors. And besides, a little patience is needed.

From the basic forms, all world-famous origami crafts are built. They will also come in handy when you perform modular (modular) origami. The basic shape of the "triangle" is the easiest and most common.

Origami. Base shape triangle

To make it, you just need to cut an even square out of a sheet of paper and bend it diagonally. A finger is well held over each fold so that the paper does not protrude.

Some flowers, simple animals from paper, which are sure to please children, are made from the “triangle” blank.

Further, it is desirable to study the form called the "double triangle", some of which are also called the "bomb".

Square Shape (Double Square)

As you can conclude, even the schoolchild will master the simplest, basic forms of origami. Any interested person will be able to understand how this or that object is built. We recommend that you purchase a book and view in color schemes all the basic forms performed in the origami technique. "Square" is one of these forms. And just like the "triangle", it is created as a part for all kinds of figures more complicated.

"Double square" is used to create boxes and various colors. To make a square, follow this instruction:

  • cut an even square;
  • bend diagonally 2 times in both directions;
  • a vertex is formed at the intersection of the diagonal lines, you need to fold the paper so that this vertex is the common angle of two square planes.

If you bend up the free corners of the squares, you get another double triangle.

The faster a person learns to add basic forms of origami, the more interesting he is to develop further in this direction.

Harvest Frog

To create such a blank, you need to perform a few simple movements and spend a couple of minutes. But when you get the basic frog shape , origami may be your favorite hobby.

It is executed as follows:

  • prepare the double square shape;
  • mentally draw a straight line from the dead corner of the square; from this line, press 2 free corners;
  • Having made a deflection, remove these corners in your pockets so that they are not visible from above.

At this stage, the first version of this scheme is ready. It looks like in the picture below.

There is a more complex option, for the assembly of which you need to follow a few more steps:

  • flip the shape and “tuck” exactly 2 corners in the second square plane;
  • these transformations must be repeated with the lower sides of the paper;
  • the corner, which remained in the middle and was the top of the square at the beginning, needs to be pulled up;
  • the frog blank is done.

The form is called so, because it is on its basis that a simple figure is made - a paper jumping frog.

There are a few more important forms that beginners need. Even if you don’t master a whole modular dodecahedron at a time, it’s easy to master such elements as a “bird” (“crane”) or “pancake”. Other basic forms of origami are already made on the basis of the above.
