Ivanovo is one of the key cities in Russia located in the Central Federal District. One of the main industries is needlework and fabric production. That is why the city received a huge number of different nicknames, for example, “City of brides” or “Printed land”. The latest design of the coat of arms was approved in 1996. It depicts a young girl in a traditional Russian dress:
- Silver shirt with a gold collar and red embroidery on the sleeves.
- Scarlet sundress, also decorated with gold embroidery.
- The traditional Russian headdress is a red kokoshnik with gold ornaments, a silver scarf is dressed under it.
