A lumber sauna is the best way to relax!

Since ancient times, Russian people love to steam in a bath. And it’s good if she is her own. Before such a place appears, it is necessary to decide: what material to choose, what size the bath will be, how to make a foundation, how to assemble and install, whether to make an attic?

timber bath
One of the easiest to assemble and affordable is a timber bath. Its installation can be done without special skills.

The construction of timber baths is based on the choice of wood, which is best harvested for the winter, because at this time the forest is drier and not infected with parasites. In a quality beam there should not be deep cracks, signs of decay, traces of parasites.

It is not recommended to order ready-made log houses, since there is a high probability of inhomogeneous shrinkage and, accordingly, distortions of the room. For assembly, it is advisable to buy the material itself and do all the work on site. The shape and size of the room depends on your preference. It can be a beam bath with an attic or with a terrace.

The first is most often built in order to save space on sites and for the rest of the whole family. For ease of installation, the roof is gable. Warm the attic with mineral wool.

A timber bath is based on a foundation consisting of concrete and iron reinforcement. Due to its lightness, such a building does not require a powerful foundation, which reduces the cost of construction. After the foundation is erected, a layer of waterproofing is laid, that is, liquid bitumen is applied first, the next layer is roofing material. Next, the bars are installed, impregnated with mining or an antiseptic, at the same distance from each other, about 25 cm. On top of the bars we lay the first crown of the bath, also impregnated with special means from the side of contact with other materials. The distance between the bars and the first crown will additionally protect the entire structure from decay. The resulting space is filled with foam. The next heater is placed on top of the first crown, it can be moss or tow. A layer of it is laid so that it protrudes beyond the edges of the beam, this is necessary for the caulking of the bath during shrinkage. In the second crown and subsequent holes are drilled under the metal pins needed to secure all the tiers. A timber bath is built taking into account the basic rule - the first and last two crowns are not fixed. This is due to the fact that if the lower tier rots, then it can be replaced without problems. After shrinkage of the timber bath, ceiling beams are installed, therefore, the dismantling of the upper crowns is necessary.

Having finished the construction of the premises, you should prepare door and window openings. Appropriate designs can be installed immediately.

Possessing all the properties of a log steam room, a timber bath is even more economical, ergonomic, keeps heat very well, easy to assemble and practically does not shrink. The main disadvantage of a timber bath is that, as a result of the manufacture of the main material, wood is more prone to aging and decay. For long-term use, it must be treated with antiseptics and protective impregnations.
