The console in Dragon Age: Origins allows you to eliminate bugs, complete the game on your own terms, change the attitude of characters, enable immortality mode, or kill all enemies at once. By default, the function is disabled. You can return a line of cheat codes to the game by manipulating files in the root directory or using plugins.

Instructions on how to enable the console
In Dragon Age: Origins, the activation of the command line is as follows:
- In the root directory, you should find the daorigins.exe file.

- Find the line “Object” and append the -enabledeveloperconsole parameter at the end of the content.

If it didn’t work
Subject to the above steps, everything will work. If the console in Dragon Age: Origins did not start, you should first check the correctness of the creation of the shortcut. If the parameter is registered in the icon that appeared after installing the game, then such actions are erroneous. This icon leads to the DAOriginsLauncher.exe file in the root directory.
The command line is launched by pressing the ~ (tilde) key. If nothing happens, you should check the correctness of the entered parameter. There must be a space between the closing quote and the hyphen. If everything is entered correctly, but there is no effect, you need to go to Documents \ BioWare \ Dragon Age \ Settings, open the keybindings.ini file with notepad and replace “x” with ~ in the line OpenConsole_0 = Keyboard :: Button_x.

How to make the console visible
If everything is done correctly, the console will appear on the screen in the game after pressing ~. Sometimes a line remains invisible. There are two ways to make sure it works:

There is a mod that allows you to make the console and input commands visible. Install required in the data folder.
Cheat codes
After the console is opened in Dragon Age: Origins, you should register the command in the English keyboard layout. All cheats begin with the word runscript (script start), then comes the code. The most popular are:
- addxp n - adds n experience to the whole team;
- zz_money x - the player receives x copper;
- healplayer - full restoration of health, stamina and magic energy of the entire detachment;
- injury remparty - eliminates injuries in team members;
- setplayerimmortal - the group receives immortality mode;
- killallhostiles - enemies in sight immediately die;
- zz_createrunes - all possible runes for enchanting weapons and armor are added to the inventory;
- zz_reveal_map - opens a map;
- zz_givearmor - a set of bone dragon armor of the Legion appears in the inventory;
- zz_party_addgifts - adds gifts that should appease team members.
Separately, it is worth mentioning the zz_addparty x cheat code, with which you can add one of the characters to the squad. Instead of “x”, the number is indicated:
- Logain - 10.
- Leliana - 9.
- Ogren - 8.
- Zevran - 7.
- Stan - 6.
- Sheila - 5.
- Wynne - 4.
- Morrigan - 3.
- Dog - 2.
- Alistair - 1.
To improve relations with satellites, the code zz_addaproval NM is prescribed, where M is the respect points, and N is the party number from the list above.

The use of the console in Dragon Age: Origins is cheating and is not recommended for gamers who have no idea about the DA universe. Those who avoided the project far and wide are not afraid to cheat. In particular, to restore health, activation of the console is sometimes used, then the up key and pressing Enter. So the command described above is repeated. It is very convenient to restore health.
For those who are not comfortable using the line, there are tons of mods that add various new products and adjust the balance in every possible way. However, such use of the game quickly deprives the project of all attractiveness. The author’s idea, implemented at 5+, helps to feel the harsh world of sorcerers, demons, templars and ordinary people involved in the conflict due to the invasion of the Spawn of Darkness.
Dragon Age attracts with unexpected plot twists, ornate dialogs and often puts the player in a situation where you need to make important decisions and make a deal with conscience. Every action has consequences. Satellites can approve or criticize the decision of the protagonist.
If the character’s confidence scale is reduced to a minimum, a team member may leave the squad and never return. And at the maximum value with a romance character, a love relationship is likely.
Of course, all indicators can be adjusted by entering console commands. The player does not have to try and think through every step forward, because the squad members will be delighted with the "leader". But the meaning of the gameplay is completely lost.
Therefore, it is better to wander along the unknown paths of the "Dragon Age" in complete ignorance, without the use of auxiliary commands.
