Doll story

Now we are witnessing all kinds of toy beauties: dolls with red hair, golden, black, with different shapes and functionality ... In the old days, dolls had not only hair but also a face. According to ancient beliefs, it was forbidden to paint faces on dolls, this was considered a bad sign. Puppets were made from a cob of straw, rags, scarves. Great-grandmother Barbie was very different from the red-haired doll with the figure of Aphrodite both in texture and in appearance.

A little later, amulets came into popularity. They were made more painstakingly, had bright scraps, ribbons and beads in the design. But they were just as faceless. By the 15th century, wooden dolls began to appear, in which (finally!) Faces appeared. Their appearance was rude, but at least it was. The dolls were heterosexual, "dressed" them in folk costumes. Actually, the clothes were carved from wood directly on the doll and painted with paints.

In the XVIII century, the children of wealthy nobles could boast of excellent porcelain dolls. The little fragile beauties had chiseled cute faces, beautiful wavy hair, lace and satin clothes, hats, crowns. The doll was not only a toy, but also an interior decoration, a sign of wealth and solidity of the owners. Children spent time playing dolls only under the guidance and attention of a nanny or governess.

In the USSR, dolls were made from paper and wood raw materials by hot pressing. Some dolls depicted babies and were dressed in an envelope, a vest and a bonnet. Had painted eyes. Others were made in the form of girls: in dresses, socks, slippers, with glued wigs and lockable eyelets. Time passed - and dolls with voice inserts began to appear on the shelves of the store.

In the late 60s of the 20th century, American Ruth Handler decided to create a prototype doll for an adult girl. This idea was prompted by her daughter, playing with paper "adult" dolls. Thus began the beauty of Barbie. Golden or red, the doll quickly fell in love with girls of different ages and ascended to the top of popularity.
