Color can be from light ocher, pink-yellow to red-orange, dark brown. The diameter of the cap can reach 25 cm. When pressed and ripening, it becomes dark red, and in the period of dry weather acquires a whitish or light yellow color. Under it are small elongated needle-like spikes of yellow-pink color. If you touch them, they will easily break. The yellowish leg of this mushroom has a thickness of up to 3 cm, a length of up to 5 cm and tapers slightly below.

The yellow hedgehog mushroom resembles foxes. The difference is that the first has spikes under the hat and the chanterelles have plates. Their common habitat is also related. This kind of mushroom also resembles small red-yellow blackberries, but differs in size and in that the cap and spikes of the last orange-reddish hue.

Cooking Application

Hedgehog is a mushroom that has a special spicy smell. It may not be to everyone’s taste. It belongs to the fourth category in nutritional value. Amazing marinades, pickles, fried dishes can be prepared from young blackberries. They will also turn out very tasty in dried form. Mature specimens are more bitter, therefore, before you cook something from them, they must be boiled.
