General information
Bald Mountain (Kiev) is a historical place in the Ukrainian capital, surrounded by legends and secrets. It was mentioned in chronicles and epics, but folk rumor has brought unpleasant glory to our days. It was believed that it was here that witches and various evil spirits flock to the covens, so ordinary people were not recommended to come here on certain days.
And although in Kiev there are several places with this name, the official is assigned to only one. It has sparse vegetation, which explains the toponym. This is a hill located in the Vydubychi district, in the southern part of the city, between the Stolichnoe highway and Sapernaya Slobodka.
Today, from the mountain, where in the second half of the nineteenth century (1872-76) the Lysogorsky fort of the New Pechersk Fortress was built, you can see a beautiful panorama of industrial Kiev with a thermal power plant in the middle. People are attracted by the remains of the fort - earthen ramparts with brick ravines, a restored pagan sanctuary (they say it is active). During the Soviet era, a military radio complex was based here, and the Germans also stayed here during the years of occupation.

Lysogorsk Fort

Within the walls of the Lysogorsk fort, scribbled by soldiers of different times, there was a depot of explosives and weapons, a secret Soviet military factory, and the base of German Tiger tanks. It was here that in 1941 the militias performed their feat, preventing the Germans from breaking through to the crossings across the Dnieper. Mysterious dungeons

Then their work was continued by the hermits of the Pechersky Monastery, who kept an apiary on the slopes of the mountain. Later, the city government bought the territory for the future fortress. During construction, water tanks, wells, a drainage system, warehouses and huge halls were laid. Unfortunately, the inward entrance is impossible: while retreating, the Germans blew up their base and poured concrete over the entrances. But enthusiasts are looking for an opportunity to penetrate the fort building through wells, secret doors, mines.
Mystic Bald Highlands

As evidenced by numerous studies by historians, archaeologists and other scientists, in ancient times there was a pagan treasure hunt. The trebische was valid until the notorious baptism of Rus, when Prince Vladimir ordered to dump all idols and burn, and drown the idol of Perun in the Dnieper. Enthusiasts began a movement to revive at least part of a forgotten culture that was destroyed during the Christianization of Russia. Today on Lysaya Gora one can find a stylized temple where, according to the initiates, ceremonies take place during the spring and autumn solstices and now. Whether this is true or false is still unknown. But lovers of Slavic culture have the opportunity to inspect three wooden idols carved from wood and standing around. In front of them is a huge stone altar. Colorful and spectacular!
