Grinevich Gennady Stanislavovich and the theory of pre-Slavic writing

History accompanies man everywhere. It is this science, directly or indirectly, that is at the heart of many humanitarian sectors. Linguistics was no exception partly due to the scientist and professor Gennady Grinevich.

Education and becoming

The future linguist was born on September 22, 1938 in the capital, at that time, the USSR. At 18, Grinevich entered the Moscow State University at the Faculty of Geology. There, the young man became interested in history, since the science of the earth is closely connected with the study of past events. After graduation, Gennady Stanislavovich was sent to Chukotka, where he was involved in the assessment and search for minerals, as well as exploring the quality of the terrestrial crust. He was later transferred to continue his activities in the Irkutsk region, but already as the head of geological work. At the age of 37, the man began to study linguistics. The new hobby is based on love for historical cultural monuments. In particular, to written sources, since geology, history and linguistics are interconnected.

Excavation Results

In the process of conducting geological work, many discoveries were made. As finds, letters were found in ancient languages, in particular, on runes. As it turned out later, such artifacts belonged to the Western Slavs many centuries ago. Later Grinevich Gennady Stanislavovich went on an expedition outside the borders of his native state. The scientist worked on the islands of Greece, studied ancient civilization on the territory of modern Italy, and also studied the material cultural monuments of India and the East.

Own theory

Having done such a huge work and gaining experience, Gennady Stanislavovich Grinevich systematized the knowledge gained about the writing of the Slavs and compiled a single table for deciphering the ancient inscriptions. The scientist put forward the theory that many written cultural monuments are made in the "Proto-Slavic style." That is, having analyzed data on finds from different countries, Gennady Stanislavovich revealed certain similarities.

Ancient finds

Gennady Grinevich and the pre-Slavic writing

The scientist relates to this hypothesis:

  • Danube Proto-Letter. This term refers to clay tablets found in Romania and Bulgaria. The object contains unencrypted inscriptions, drawings of animals and a sketch of everyday scenes. The Terterian writings date back to the 5th millennium BC.
  • Writing Valley Indus. The letters found in this territory are still not decrypted. The complexity of the text lies in the hieroglyphic use of characters. The inscriptions are short sentences. But there is no single interpretation, as many scientists offer their own versions of the meanings of symbols. The find dates back to the 15th century BC.
  • Cretan inscriptions. These artifacts are made in different styles. For example, the oldest type of writing was found - Linear letter A. Later, this type was supplanted by a new letter B. Unfortunately, the decryption of the letter is not subject. It is only known that a later version of the letter became the basis for the emergence of the ancient Greek language. The Cretan inscriptions also include the Phaistos disc. The artifact is a large circle with inscriptions and symbols. Some scientists doubt the validity of this subject, considering it a fake. The finds are dated to the 20th century BC.
  • Memoirs of the Etruscan language. This dialect is considered extinct, but a large number of ancient finds contain symbols belonging to this dialect. Many scientists are engaged in decoding the meanings of the symbols of the language, restoring the grammatical and lexical components. The first data about the language appeared in the 8th century BC.

The phrase “Grinevich Gennady Stanislavovich - books” can be called a continuous chain, since the scientist expressed hypotheses and assumptions through his own publications.

Opponents of the pre-Slavic theory

But the scientific community does not accept such a theory. Many do not agree that the found artifacts are based on the Proto-Slavic script. Therefore, some scientists do not recognize the theory of Gennady Stanislavovich scientific and attribute them to pseudoscience. The scientist himself considers himself an amateur linguist.

Not only science, but also the community of the Slavic faith, is negatively inclined to the hypotheses of Grinevich Gennady Stanislavovich. Participants accuse the scientist of speculation and an unfair interpretation of the pre-Slavic signs. The Union of Slavic Neopagans also opposes the work of Grinevich, considering them pseudoscientific.

Neopagans at a meeting

Many scientists are looking for answers to the questions of antiquity and a single solution to the interpretation of symbols of different cultures. It was not possible to come to one version, but each theory is advanced on the basis of research. Perhaps, after many years, the scientific community will revise its views on the Proto-Slavic writing and appreciate the work of the scientist. Even without outside support, Grinevich Gennady Stanislavovich has already contributed to the development of geology and linguistics.
