Few people know that the ethnonym "Chuvash", from which the name of the republic came from, is translated from Tatar as "peaceful, welcoming." The Chuvash Autonomous Republic was formed in the 20th year of the last century. It is pleasant to note that Finno-Ugric, Turkic and Slavic peoples, as well as people of Muslim faith, lived peacefully together on this land. And the interethnic war never flared up here. Chuvash National Museum
Located in Cheboksary. This building contains more than 160,000 various exhibits, including archaeological, botanical, documentary, geological, paleontological and numismatic collections. Mother Patroness
The monument is also located in Cheboksary and was erected with funds raised during the organization of the charity fund by the first president of the Republic of Chuvashia. Sights are always striking in their majesty or ethnic component. The sculpture is quite high: it rises on a hill, right on the shore of the Chuvash Bay. This is a woman dressed in a national dress and spreading her arms in different directions, as if hugging someone or the whole world.
Victory Memorial Park
It is noteworthy that, located at the highest point, this park is visible from any region of Cheboksary. The memorial is a tribute to those killed in the war, and not only. Those who performed a feat, risking their lives. The Great Patriotic War is reflected in the image of a woman-mother in her hand with a banner. Next to her, kneeling down, stands a young soldier. It was installed in 1980.
In 1996, a monument was opened to those who fought in the Caucasus. Three years later, the chapel of the patron saint of soldiers, St. John, was consecrated. Further, a monument to the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident appeared in the memorial park, and a year later, to the internationalist soldiers who died in Afghanistan. Later, in honor of those killed in the Second World War, they opened a walk of fame and a fountain.
In addition to the monuments, there is a museum of military equipment.
Cathedral Square
This is an architectural ensemble in Novocheboksarsk. The area is very beautiful, landscaped. On a granite pedestal there is a bronze sculpture of Prince Vladimir, behind it there are the main gates, which are three arches: the largest is the middle one, two slightly smaller on the sides of it. Three paths lead to the stone Cathedral Church, located on the square, in the center of which there is a fountain. There is also an icon shop, a chapel and even a hotel.
Bayderiakovsky spring
Located in the village of Baderyakovo. This is a natural-historical complex, which includes a spring and green spaces. Tourists and locals are attracted by the small building erected in 1912 - at the same time that the spring was arranged. It is it that hides a complex water supply system. But outside it is a magnificent architectural creation, which is located in the Republic of Chuvashia. Sights open the curtain in a completely different era.
The spring is surrounded by a fruit garden and Manchurian walnut, so the landscape looks more picturesque.
Gosudareva Mount Mariinsky Posad
The most important tourist attraction that is usually visited first. A century and a half ago, when the city of Mariinsky Posad was still the village of Sundyre, Catherine the Great came here unexpectedly. Needless to say, the Empress was (in a good way) shocked by the beauty of this area? At the most picturesque point of the beautiful site, the local nobility gave her a gala reception, combined with lunch. And it was after the visit of Catherine and her lunch on this mountain that the hill began to be called Sovereign. Soon, near the mountain, work began on the creation of the Catherine oak grove. Nowadays, oaks are already magnificent, "adults" and are a treasure that the republic of Chuvashia keeps. Attractions are best seen in the daytime.
Kazan Church of the Mariinsky Posad
Church of Our Lady of Kazan was built in 1761 at the expense of parishioners. Later, in 1889, a certain merchant named Lavrenty Matveyevsky donated money to the temple, which made it possible to attach limits and establish a bell tower. Outwardly, the church seems asymmetric due to the extension. But what can I say, because both outside and inside the temple is magnificent, unusual, beautiful.
In the 30s of the last century, the building began to be given to various enterprises. And the stable, and the telephone exchange, and the warehouse, and the dining room - which was not there. As a result, the church was abandoned, and only in the 90s it was again given to believers. There was no restoration, the structure looks very old, some painting has not been preserved. But there is something in this primordiality, something that attracts to this temple in the Republic of Chuvashia. Attractions do not always have to be presented in palace splendor.
