In many Soviet films about the war, we heard the word bunker. What is bunker and how was it used? Military experts know the answer to this question, but it will be interesting for modern generations who have not seen the war alive.
Bunker as an element of protection for soldiers
If we talk about bunkers (decoding - wood-earth firing point), then this was at one time a fairly effective means of camouflage, designed to fire at enemy forces. Note that if the shelter was well camouflaged, the enemy could not destroy it. The main combat mission of the soldiers who were sitting at this point was to inflict as many losses as possible on the enemy, but at the same time preserving the bunker in integrity and safety.
What is a bunker with a frameless frame? This is a military structure that is partially deepened into the ground. The internal equipment of the defensive structure is minimal. The embrasure is so wide that fire can be fired in a radius of up to 50 degrees. On top of the embrasure, it is desirable to install a shield to protect against grenades, because with the exact hit of a grenade or other dangerous object, the bunker is destroyed. What is the destruction of this fortification? Of course, the death of the soldiers who were in it.
Such firing points are no longer used today.
The current young military only in military history classes will be able to learn about the bunker, that such a structure was relevant during the Second World War. An earthly firing point is an engineering structure that was already used during the 1st World War. Materials for construction: earth, wood, stones, grass for camouflage.
Everything is clear about the land. In a deeply dug recess, a bunker is being constructed. What is camouflage grass? It is necessary to cover the firing position as much as possible in order to give the area of this fortification the most natural look. Wood and stones are used in the construction of bunkers.
