How to make a do-it-yourself subwoofer at home?

Today, when listening to any musical melody, everyone wants to perceive the whole range of sound vibrations that would be far from complete without the most important device responsible for low frequencies. We are talking, of course, about the subwoofer, which allows you to perceive any melody with great effect, both at home and in the car. That is why without a subwoofer today, not a single musical installation is sold. It may seem that his device is very complex, but it is not. A close examination reveals that making a subwoofer with your own hands will be completely within the power of a person who has basic knowledge in the field of radio electronics.

So, in order to independently construct a low-frequency device, we need the following materials:

- directly a low-frequency speaker, the power and brand of which depends on which device you want to get in the end;

- low frequency amplifier for subwoofer;

- an audio signal processing unit for a music channel;

- plugs, connectors and terminals;

- acoustic cable of wide cross section;

- set for soldering.

As can be seen from the above materials, all this is on sale, so getting the necessary devices and elements is not particularly difficult. Thus, a do-it-yourself subwoofer can be made at home, which many craftsmen do. Now you need to prepare everything that is needed to make the wooden frame of our low-frequency speaker. A 20 mm thick plywood sheet, screws, sealant, foam rubber and screwdriver should be prepared. After that, even if you plan to make the simplest subwoofer, you should use the computer program JBL SpeakerShop, which will help you calculate the volume of the case. The latter should match the power of your system. This is an extremely important parameter and should not be neglected in any case. You need to specify all the necessary data for the sound devices that you purchased, and within a few seconds the program will give you the most optimal volume to achieve high-quality low-frequency sound.

It should be said that a do-it-yourself subwoofer must be made of wood, as this material is the best not only for a low-frequency device, but also for ordinary music speakers. After this, we mark out the plywood, saw it and assemble it together using self-tapping screws and sealant. We attach the back cover in the last place, since we pre-install a speaker connected to the amplifier and the audio signal processing unit. We bring the cables out and finally fix the back cover of the resulting speaker. Now it remains only to test our subwoofer by connecting it to the music center.

Thus, we figured out how to make a subwoofer at home, while using improvised materials for the case. It should also be mentioned that when calculating the planned power, it is necessary to take into account the parameters of the room in which the device will be located. The main thing is the volume of the room, the presence of windows in it, as well as the material of the walls. Be sure to review the recommendations for acoustic effects that can occur in rooms with too high or low ceilings, as well as in studio rooms.

According to the same scheme, you can get a speaker for a car by making a subwoofer with your own hands. It is best placed in the luggage compartment of your car, because in this case it will take a minimum of space, and the effect it produces will be quite serious.
