Paper monkey mask
If you want to make a mask for your child in kindergarten for the holiday, then you can make it out of paper. You will not spend much time and money. It is best to buy colored cardboard for children's creativity for such a mask. If you cannot do this, then any thick paper will do, which you will then need to paint with pencils, felt-tip pens or paints (gouache, watercolor or acrylic).
First draw a monkey face on cardboard. As a template, you can use the photo above. First, cut the silhouette of the muzzle out of dark brown cardboard. Carefully measure the distance between the eyes, otherwise the monkey mask may not fit in size. Then cut out the mouth, ears and bangs from the light brown cardboard, and from the yellow - the contours around the eyes. Make small holes near the ears and tie an elastic band to them. More complicated option: felt mask
To create such a mask, you need a brown, sand and white felt, thread, needle and scissors. You can use a ready-made template to create such a product, or you can make a pattern on paper with your own hands, so that later you can cut out a mask from felt. First make a monkey face out of the dark brown felt. You can notice the edges of the future mask so that they are stronger. Then cut the monkey’s face out of white felt and carefully sew it to the brown part. With a dark thread, mark the line of the nose as shown in the photograph.
Then cut two semicircles of sand-colored felt and sew them to the ears. If you have a high-quality machine, then you can embroider these semicircles. Now it remains only to attach the elastic to the mask. To make such a product, it is best to take a thick and hard felt.
How to make a mask of polymer clay and faux fur?
A DIY plastic mask made by yourself is the most difficult version of your idea. Firstly, one product will take from two hundred to four hundred grams of clay. Secondly, the mask will have to be baked so that it becomes flexible and durable. To mold your ears, make a flat oval from clay and cut into two parts. Give the necessary form and toned. To create a muzzle you need to make a papier-mâché form. It is desirable to polish the surface of the workpiece well so that it is then easy to detach the clay. Then take the sand-colored clay and roll it into a thin layer with a thickness of not more than four millimeters. Try to lay the layer on the form as evenly as possible.
Use the stack to draw wrinkles and a mouth. Also at this stage you can tint the product with a special clay powder, dry pastel or eye shadow. After you have fully worked through facial expressions, the monkey mask should be placed in the oven or air grill. It should be baked for thirty to forty minutes. While the monkey’s mask is baking, cut a small strip of faux fur. Then remove the mask and ears from the oven. Prepare the glue. Gently glue the fur to the ears and edges of the mask itself. If you want the monkey mask to be light, then make it from papier-mâché. To do this, you first need to mold a foundation from plasticine, and then gently stick it around with pieces of newspaper and PVA glue. There should be several layers of paper, otherwise the mask will be fragile. You should wait until the paper dries, and then remove it from the plasticine. Now the mask must be painted and varnished. In addition, it is necessary to stick or sew on the rope or elastic.
