General information
Charysh called the basin of the river of the same name, surrounded by mountainous terrain with spurs of ridges. The picturesque coast is amazing in its beauty. The banks seem to squeeze the water flows of the river in their grip, sometimes weakening them, thereby contributing to the formation of a beautiful flowering valley.
The source of the Charysh River is located on the northern slope of the Korgon Range (Ust-Kansky District). He carries away the bubbling waters of the tributaries of the Korgon and Kumir, and as a result he turns into powerful bubbling streams that jump over numerous rapids and rapids.

The bulk of the natural attractions of Mountain Charysh is represented by caves, in which many researchers discovered the remains of extinct animals: a bison, a mammoth, a cave hyena, a woolly rhinoceros, and a fossil deer. Also, bones of animals that inhabited these places in the century before last were found here. Scientists have speculated that some of the caves were the home of ancient people. They are located on the steep banks of the middle reaches of the river. Most of them were cleared by the locals, as they believe that they can find a treasure. Bats caves, the Bastion and the Novo-Chagyrsky mine are popular with tourists.
There is an archaeological complex in the Mountain Charysh called the Royal Mound. It is located in the valley of the Sentelek River (near its confluence with Charysh). The distance from Charyshsky village to the settlement of Sentelek is 25 kilometers. This Tsar’s mound, with a diameter of about 46 meters and a height of up to 2 meters, is located in the westernmost part of the country of the Pazyryks (residents of the early Iron Age). The only large mound in the Altai Territory was erected around the 5th century BC by a group of Sentelek clans. Flora and fauna of the region
Most of the territory of Mountain Charyosh is occupied by forests. Fir and spruce prevail on the slopes of the Korgon ridge. Higher extends the zone of high-mountain meadows with bright forbs. The river valley is represented by shrubs, including berry bushes: black and red currants, honeysuckle, viburnum, raspberries and mountain ash. Often you can find bird cherry. In July-August there is an abundance of mushrooms. In the open places of mountain slopes, in the river valley, quite rich forbs spread. Almost everywhere there is a maral root. Also in the area, plants are listed in the Russian Red Book: the Altai gymnosperm and the large-slipper. Forests along the banks of the Charysh are mostly mixed - pine, birch, fir and spruce a little less often.
Inhabitants of the animal world: wolf, fox, bear, lynx, hare, elk, sable, squirrel, roe deer, etc. There are many commercial birds here: hazel grouse, capercaillie, partridge, black grouse, from the guards - osprey.
The following fish live in mountain waters: perch, grayling, pike, taimen, gudgeon, burbot, bream, chebak, crucian carp, scavenger, pike perch, nelma, crucian carp and maggot.
