The mystery of the island of Java attracts many from childhood. At first, this place on the map seems to us a kind of mysterious territory, keeping the secrets of the past and numerous treasures buried in the ground by bloodthirsty pirates. A little later, we strive to go there in search of new experiences and unique photographs.
Section 1. General Description of Java
Java is the most famous and fifth largest island of the Indonesian archipelago, which today has 130 million people (more than 65% of the population of Indonesia). On this territory, you can see hundreds of volcanoes, unique landscapes of the Dieng Plateau, a variety of flora and fauna, many ancient palaces, temples, mosques and sanctuaries.
Due to the tropical climate, there are practically no temperature drops on the island all year round. The weather here is divided into two seasons: during the first (from March to October) it is constantly dry, and during the second it rains constantly. The humidity of the atmosphere within Java varies from 75% to 95%, and the air temperature is from +26 C to +29 C.
Section 2. Local Attractions
In Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, there are many buildings of the XVII-XVIII centuries. A specialized tourist map of the island of Java, which can be purchased almost everywhere, shows this as well as possible. Near the first city center, Taman Fatahil Square, surrounded by ancient buildings, there is an ancient port, an old cannon, a drawbridge and the Jine Yuan Temple in the Chinese district. In the second center of the capital - on Freedom Square (Medan-Merdeka) - there is a National 132-meter monument. In addition, the city has many museums, a zoo, the Water Palace, Mini-Indonesia Park, a leisure park and a cultural and entertainment complex.
In the south of the island, the largest monument in the southern hemisphere of medieval Indonesian culture is piled up - Stupa Borobudur, which is called the monastery on the mountain or the Temple of a Thousand Buddhas.
It should be noted that in the west of the island of Java you can visit another interesting place called Bandung. This is a mountain resort with Dago waterfall, Tangkuban Praia volcano, Chiatur volcanic springs, Maribaya hot springs, Situpatenngang lake, mountain safari park, palace complex, national park, many museums, Karang Bolong, Anyer beaches and tea plantations.
Between the cities of Solo and Yogyakarta, there is another architectural masterpiece - the Hindu ancient temple complex Prambanan.
The city of Surabaya is known for the reserves of Meru-Metiri, Baluran and the high active volcano Bromo.

Java on the world map is quite easy to find, and it’s very simple to plan your route. The transport system here is excellent. Today on the island, namely in the cities of Surabaya, Semarang, Jakard, Yogyakarta, Bandug, Solo, airports accept international charter flights from around the world.
From Russia, it is most convenient to get a regular flight through Dubai. It is also possible to get to the island by water. For example, you can sail to Jakarta, Surabaya, Banten and East Java by ferry.
Buses are considered to be the cheapest and most convenient means of transportation here, but for travel, a rented car or a trip by rail is perfect.
The cuisine on the island is adapted to European tastes and consists mainly of beef, chicken, vegetables, rice, legumes and fresh fruits. The most traditional, tasty and cheap food can be found in small cafes. Very popular drinks in Java are ginger tea, sugarcane juice , palm flower tuak and arak palm vodka.
