There are many options for "winter" crafts made by yourself. The Internet is full of ideas for hand-made decor, Christmas tree decorations and home decorations. One of them is a tree made of plasticine (or polymer clay). This desktop, compact decor is a souvenir quite easy to perform, inexpensive, but sincere! Here we will tell you how to perform it together with your child!

What is needed

In order to make a Christmas tree, we will need, of course, plasticine. It is advisable to take green or different shades of green: this is how our Christmas tree will look more natural. But you can take a gray (brown) polymer clay - as an option! Depending on the future size of the tree, we take one hundred to two hundred grams, maybe three hundred. A pencil, scissors, wipes (wet) for wiping hands, face, scissors may come in handy. It is also important to attach a child to our work, so do everything together!

Take a piece of plasticine and roll it like a dough (this can be done with a kitchen rolling pin moistened with water). Now we turn our “pancake” and give the workpiece a conical shape that expands to the bottom. The value, as already mentioned, depends on the amount of plasticine, as well as the size of your scissors. Have you made a cone? Insert a pencil in the center of the figure, which will serve as the trunk for our Christmas tree! Thus, the resulting Christmas tree in the center rests on a pencil, and on the edges - on the base of the cone. The basis for the Christmas tree is ready, now we will make branches. To do this, starting from the crown, we make even cuts with scissors - this will be the branches of the tree. We bend the edges of the branches upward, so our beauty will gain vivacity and original shape. If something went wrong as you intended, it doesn’t matter - clay allows you to quickly fix everything you need, it's wonderful wonderful soft material!

Decorate the Christmas tree

Now that the plasticine tree at the base is ready, proceed to decorate it. Here it will already be possible to connect your baby to the process! This lesson will fill the whole house with joy, because doing the DIY work, the children will experience genuine delight. Plasticine Christmas tree can be decorated in small beads and larger beads of different colors and sizes - these will be our toys! You can also use multicolored pieces of plasticine prepared in advance as a decor. Do not forget to fix the Christmas star on the top of the tree - this can be done with an ordinary match. We take a match, break off the sulfuric head, stick vertically into the top of the cone of the Christmas tree so that the piece sticks out. On a piece sticking out from above we string a star pre-molded from plasticine (to make the star different from the general background, blind it from red, golden or silver plasticine). As an option, to decorate the tops of our beauty, you can use a snowflake made of white cardboard, but cut a snowflake longer!

It remains to add that our tree is “afraid” of heat, that is, it is not recommended to leave it near a stove or radiator - it may “leak”. In order for it to become hard, it must be put in the freezer for a short time or varnished. To do this, use a construction varnish in the spray can, but ordinary hair spray can also work!

Now you know how to mold a plasticine Christmas tree and make your child happy!
