Nikita Sergeevich Khrushchev is no exception.
Born into a poor peasant family, he becomes a commissar at twenty-odd. When he was just over forty, he heads the Regional Committee of the capital, actively participates in economic life. Then he leads the Communist Party of Ukraine, organizes activities for the Sovietization of the annexed western regions, in general, always in the very center of events.
War ... A time when millions were dying unknown. The time when there were rapid leaps in the career of some state and party leaders. And now the Victory Parade, the rostrum of the mausoleum, on it - members of the Politburo, and among them - Khrushchev Nikita Sergeevich, Lieutenant General.
So far, the newcomer, if it differs from other "celestials" with large portraits, is only because the other Kremlin inhabitants treat him as, in army terms, to say "salabon." They make fun of him, put a tomato on a chair, and sneer at the stout figure. Hands to the elbow in the blood of all of them, behind collectivization, industrialization, mass "landings" and executions, hunger, and the leadership in Stalin's times could not even hope to avoid participating in these crimes, not even so high. So, Nikita Sergeevich Khrushchev again is no exception.
After the death of the “great helmsman” in 1953, no one perceives this lover to eat delicious food as a possible heir to the Soviet empire. And then he inflicts an unexpected and crushing blow on the main competitor - the deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. It can be said that Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev carried out a coup d'etat, accusing L.P. Beria in espionage in favor of the UK, and at the same time in all mortal sins, including hundreds of rapes, and repression, in which he took no less part.
Then strange times began. For the first three years everything went as before, and then thunder struck: at the XX Congress the famous report suddenly sounded. It turned out that Stalin was somewhat excited. No, it is not a matter of socialism as such, just some Leninist principles were violated. What kind? A collective leadership, for example.
Being an ignorant person, Nikita Khrushchev was looking for the simplest ways out of the most difficult situations. The development of virgin land, in itself a very useful and necessary business, was carried out by unscientific methods. Chemicalization of everything from a means of increasing efficiency turned into an end in itself. Corn should have been sown wherever possible (and where not).
However, many of his aspirations were truly good. Though small-sized, millions of citizens of the USSR have found their apartments. The collective farmers finally received passports, and along with them - the status of equal citizens and the opportunity, albeit problematic, to leave the disgusting and impoverished village.
Such was the Khrushchev thaw. It cannot be described briefly, because, on the one hand, the restoration of legality was declared, millions of prisoners returned home from the camps, and on the other, all dissent was mercilessly suppressed both in the country and throughout the socialist camp.
The result of this inconsistency was a complete loss of popularity and resignation. The Stalinists could not forgive the debunking of their idol, the intelligentsia - persecution, the military - reduction, and the rest of the people - illiteracy and gagging.
Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev died in 1971. He was a personal pensioner.
