Yucatan Peninsula - the mysterious abode of ancient civilizations

The Yucatan Peninsula is a huge porous sponge, the stone body of which is crossed by thousands of caves. Once upon a time, these catacombs were dry, but after the meteorite fell 65 million years ago, the surface sank and was flooded with rain and sea water. The formed stalactites were preserved and now represent a unique sight, a natural phenomenon. The Yucatan Peninsula is also the birthplace of the legendary Mayan tribe. You should not think that it has been wiped off the face of the earth, its descendants live there, but they completely forgot about their once majestic culture.
