How nice it is to wrap yourself in a warm blanket in the winter evening. Pay attention to this model in the "grandmother's" style: it is very simple to make it, because it is based on a square motif. Crocheted piping resembles coarse lace, which gives the plaid grace and makes it very cozy. Any craftswoman who has the most elementary skills in knitting can do such a thing in just a few evenings, without interrupting watching her favorite TV shows.
How to knit a blanket in the old style?
You need to start with the preparation of tools and material. Choose a color scheme for the base of the plaid. The threads should not be thin so that it turns out to be warm and quickly go through a process such as crocheting. Square motifs are separate parts of the future blanket. They are performed the same way, but may differ in color. In our case, the remains of multi-colored yarn were used to decorate the middle of each square. In total, at least 48 pieces must be made. Although, depending on the thickness of the thread and the density of knitting, a square crochet motif can be made smaller or larger in size. Therefore, it will be necessary to adjust the number of parts after tying the test sample. Choose a hook of at least 3.5, so that the canvas is not too tight.
How to crochet square motifs? The schemes are very simple and clearly visible in photographs. We start with the ring to tighten it afterwards.
We knit 12 double crochet stitches.
Next, add 6 double crochet columns in 4 places - we use the threads of the main color.
Thus, a square motif begins to form.
We crochet the next layer, consisting of alternating 6 double crochet stitches and 6 single crochet stitches.

The fourth (last) - knitting festoons according to the scheme: 5 single crochet + 12 double crochet in the 3rd loop. The border can be made to your liking.
