Oryol is a city of administrative significance. The date of its foundation falls on 1566. The fortress was built by order of Ivan the Terrible. “And Ivan the Terrible founded a fortress on the Oka River to protect the southern border of the Russian state. And there was no name for the fortress, until the eagle arrived, and they decided to call that fortress Eagle. ”
Location of Oryol
It is located on the Central Russian hill, which is located in the European part of Russia. According to the 2012 census, the population was more than 318 thousand people, which, compared to previous years, shows a decrease in growth dynamics.

A distinctive feature of the city is its literary heritage (this is the birthplace of famous writers mentioned above) and architectural monuments. In the heart of the city - on Karl Marx Square - stands a mighty horseman. This is General Alexey Ermolov. The sculpture was erected in 2012. In the Northern region there is a monument to Alesha-Stalevar. In the commercial part of the city, opposite the central department store, is the Tankers Square, which is guarded by an honor guard. In memory of the fallen soldiers, an eternal flame burns.
