Prospects for the development of the Moscow metro. Khimki

Residents of the Khimki city โ€‹โ€‹near Moscow , located not far from the Moscow Ring Road, northeast of the Moscow border, are used to traveling the distance to the capital by different means of transport. The metro is not among them to this day. But its construction was always discussed and expected with impatience. The waiting process dragged on for a long time, but the light at the end of the tunnel is already clearly visible. The city authorities assure that in the fall of 2013 it will be possible to step into the subway car. Khimki will be connected to Moscow by one line, allowing for more than 20 minutes to get to Komsomolskaya Square of the capital, located on the Ring Line of the Moscow Metro.

Khimki metro

Easy metro option. Khimki - Leningradsky Station

This decision is temporary and compromise. But it allows to solve the transport problem in Khimki with minimal costs. For this, a separate route of the October Railway will be involved. Special trains will be launched along it, and the not-so-ordinary Khimki metro line - Moscow will begin to carry passengers in both directions. The wagons in these trains will have a metro-specific design with seating along the walls. They will be deprived of vestibules, but they will have a third door in the central part. They will depart at intervals of 5 minutes, and the terminal station will be Leningradsky Station. The main argument in favor of this project is the relatively low cost of this type of metro. Khimki will receive a new transport connection connecting the city with the center of Moscow, and such a technical solution will not require large financial costs.

A significant drawback of such a metro is the fact that it is negative for passengers that its lines will not be integrated into the general scheme of the Moscow Metro and will operate independently of it. It should be noted that this will be only one of the lines of the so-called "easy metro", in total in the near future it is planned to build ten of them in different cities near Moscow. Their total length will be 230 kilometers.

But the commissioning of the line in the direction of the Leningradsky railway station in no way cancels the plans for the construction of a conventional metro. Khimki will sooner or later be connected to the entire Moscow Metro scheme. The feasibility study provides for the construction of four stations and stages between them. They should continue the Zamoskvoretskaya metro line in the direction of Khimki. The construction of the line is hindered by high building density, terrain, a large number of overpasses and transport interchanges to be overcome.

It is too early to speak about the specific terms of the project, but someday the phrase โ€œKhimki, metro, Mega stationโ€ will become habitual for residents of the Moscow Region city. If she is destined to become finite, then not forever. Because in the longer term, it is planned to bring a line to the terminals of the Sheremetyevo International Airport.
