The Shchelkovskaya station was opened for passengers back in 1963, on July 22, when the Arbat-Pokrovskaya branch was extended to the north. Her name is not unique and consonant with the name of Shchelkovo highway, which is located near her. Throughout all time, the name of the station has never changed.

The Shchelkovskaya metro station was designed by the famous architect I. G. Taranov , together with the equally famous architect (his wife) N. N. Bykova, on the account of which there are 9 joint projects of the Moscow metro stations.

Appearance

In the station hall there are forty columns of reinforced concrete, which are lined with green marble and white ceramic tiles. The floor is covered with gray granite tiles . Until 2002, the upper walls of the station were lined with yellow ceramic tiles and the bottom black.

After the repair, the top of the walls was covered with beige-lemon vinyl siding, and the bottom was lined with black granite.

Design

Metro station "Schelkovskaya" is built according to a standard design. The northern lobby is located near the Central Bus Station, has two exits and an entrance to the underpasses, which are located under the Shchelkovo highway.

Passage from one to another is possible via regulated ground crossings at Uralskaya and 9th Parkovy or through the lobby near the ticket office.

The Shchelkovskaya metro station is located next to the Central Bus Station in the capital, to which suburban and intercity buses arrive. Due to the large flow of people, it is considered the most congested station in the Moscow Metro.
