The Bavarian knitting technique is one way to create a colored embossed fabric. Knitting in this way always happens in a circle, and the shape of the resulting element is a square.

Due to the fact that knitters use embossed columns, voluminous “pigtails” are formed on the fabric. Also, this particular technique provides the main highlight of the ornament - colored stitches on the petals. Alternating different yarns ensures a smooth transition from one color to another. The border is not as clear as usual, and this is exactly what Bavarian crochet is all about.

What can I use a pattern for
This is not to say that there are so many options where you could apply Bavarian crochet - its patterns are designed so that you need to change the color of the yarn every two rows, which makes the fabric quite colorful. And this leads to the fact that most often it is used for the manufacture of plaids, pillows, bags and pads on stools.
From the described elements, you can also create any garment, such as a vest, skirt or top. Large squares that make up most of the detail look good, and there are models formed by several small motifs.
Bavarian crochet: patterns and yarn
To knit such a fragment, yarn of medium thickness is needed. A thread with a length of at least 400 m per 100 grams is best suited. Depending on the purpose of the product, the craftswoman chooses woolen, mixed, cotton or other thread.
The color scheme is better to think in advance, since the combination of colors plays a major role in the appearance of the product. Things are very interesting that, when knitted, a gradient color transition is observed: from the bright middle to the dark edge or vice versa. Petals of a square flower can be formed by columns with a different number of crochets: from one to three. This example describes the knitting of petals from columns with three crochets (C3H).
Tie a chain of 5 air loops (5 VP). Lock her in a ring. In the ring, knit 4 3 with the common top, 5 VP fasten to the ring chain. The result is a petal.
There should be four in total, so you need to repeat the described algorithm three more times.

Attach a thread of a different color between the 3rd and 4th columns of the second row of the petal. Next, knit 5 VP and 4 C3H with the common top sequentially in the columns of the second row. At the same time, 3 is knitted in the same way as purl embossed columns; at 5 VP, fastening to the base is made, then 5 VP, 7 3 with a common top and again 5 VP. Repeat for each petal.
In the central loop of the petal, knit 10 3, fasten to the base with an attachment column, 6 3 in the central loop formed by the 3 family. And repeat to the end of the row.
