White Lake (Novokosino) is one of three reservoirs located on the outskirts of eastern Moscow in the Kosino-Ukhtomsky District. Its location is very good, allowing you to easily and quickly reach beautiful and picturesque places without leaving the city limits. The lake is surrounded by oak and birch groves. Here you can enjoy nature, taking a break from the rapid pace of metropolitan life.
Brief description of the reservoir
White Lake, Novokosino, formed naturally. The reservoir area is 27 thousand hectares. Together with the Holy and Black Lakes, it enters the famous Kosinskoye Three Lakes. The greatest depth is 23 meters. The origin of the lake is glacial. Several springs that feed the pond leave the water cool in any weather.
The bottom, which was originally sandy, is now muddy in places. This happened due to the fact that in the years 50-60 a reservoir connected an artificial channel with the Black Lake. It is in it that muddy deposits prevail. For this reason, White began to change its color. Now its waters have a dull yellow hue. White Lake (Novokosino) is characterized by a sandy coastline: it is mostly flat, covered in some places with grass.
Hello from the past
The lake and its surroundings have a very ancient and interesting history. Between Bely and Saints, three groups of burial mounds have long been excavated. All finds are presented as exhibits of the anthropological museum of Moscow State University.
The first written mention of three lakes was found in the will of Prince Serpukhov and dates from 1401. Today, White Lake - Novokosino - can be called a unique place, since its shores are decorated with three ancient temples: Assumption, Tikhonovsky and Nikolsky. They make the surrounding area special and peaceful, set up vacationers in a positive way.

Getting to the pond by car is easy. To do this, turn off the Moscow Ring Road onto Novo-Ukhtomskoye Shosse. Then, along Muromskaya Street, drive to the beach parking lot. There is also another option: you can walk from the Kosino railway station (1 kilometer past the traffic police post) or take the bus from Vykhino metro to Kosino itself.
