Zlatoust is a large city in the Chelyabinsk region, located in the heart of Eurasia. From the history of the city
In 1754, the Tula industrialists on the Ai River (at the place where Tesmya flows into it) founded an ironworks. Soon around the enterprise there was a city named in honor of St. John Chrysostom. During the famous peasant uprising led by Emelyan Pugachev, the factory and the settlement were destroyed. After, thanks to the activities of the Tula industrialist I. Lugigin, the entire territory was reconstructed. He also became the founder of three new enterprises: Kusinsky, Artinsky and Miassky factories. In 1815, an arms factory appeared in the city, where craftsmen from Solingen (Germany) were invited. The company specialized in the production of knives. In 1867, a steel mill was opened in Zlatoust. It was within its walls that steel guns were made for the first time in Russia. In 1865, the workers' settlement received city status. During the Second World War, Zlatoust became the most important center of the defense industry.
Parks
Despite the fact that the city is considered a large industrial center, there is a surprisingly beautiful nature. Zlatoust parks are his real business card.
- Nikolsky Park is a favorite vacation spot for urban residents. It is located on the banks of the pond in the picturesque center of Zlatoust. Here everyone could visit a cafe in the form of a ship called "Juno" (unfortunately it burned down in the winter of 2018). On the bank of the pond the most unusual monument of Zlatoust is installed - a sculpture of Oranta with a baby in her arms. On one of the alleys of the park is a beautiful fountain decorated with a bell. Another interesting object in Nikopol Park is a cannon. It was made by local gunsmiths and is considered a symbol of the city.
- The mountain park of P.P. Bazhov was opened in 2015 and has already won the hearts of not only local residents, but also visitors. This recreation area is a true work of art. And this is not surprising, since the park is dedicated to the work of P.P. Bazhov. The whole territory is decorated with unusual sculptures of fairy-tale heroes.

- The first mountain peak on the tourist’s path - the Two-headed hill - is located a few kilometers from the entrance to the park area.

- The Valley of Fairy Tales is an unusual path from the Response ridge to Mount Kruglice, strewn with bizarre remains.
Temples of Zlatoust
Simeonovskaya church. The temple, consecrated in the name of Simeon Verkhotursky, was erected in the XX century. The first building was wooden. During the Soviet era, the building was demolished. Its reconstruction began only in 2002.
- The temple of Seraphim of Sarov is located in the very center of Zlatoust. This is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Its construction began in 1997 and today the temple is still being improved.
- In Zlatoust there is a chapel in the name of Alexander Nevsky. This is a new building, erected at the beginning of the XXI century. on the site of the old cathedral. Back in the XIX century. the first Orthodox church in the city was built on the banks of the Zlatoust pond. It lasted less than 20 years (destroyed during the uprising of Emelyan Pugachev). After 60 years, a cathedral and a chapel, consecrated in the name of Alexander Nevsky, were built on the site of the church. However, these buildings were destroyed in the 1930s.
Monuments of Chrysostom
The city of Zlatoust, whose attractions will not leave anyone indifferent, is of particular interest to history buffs. There are many memorable signs. Each of them reveals one of the pages of the past city.
- The monument to John Chrysostom is famous not only in the Chelyabinsk region, but throughout Russia. This is the only monument in the world erected in honor of the Orthodox saint. A unique monument rises above the city and is its main symbol.
- Monument to the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Installed in 2012 on Krasnaya Gorka.
- Monument to the heroes of socialist labor. An interesting monument in the form of a submarine. It is dedicated to the workers of the Zlatoust and Miass engineering factories who developed military missiles, including for submarines.
