The construction of a railway bypassing Ukraine is planned to be completed ahead of schedule

In 2015, the construction of the railway began bypassing Ukraine. The new site will connect the village of Zhuravka, located in the Voronezh region, with the small town of Millerovo near Rostov. Until now, railway communication between these settlements partially passed through the territory of Ukraine. Those who needed to get from Voronezh to Krasnodar or, say, Rostov-on-Don, had to cross the state border twice.

The construction of the railway bypassing Ukraine has begun

The need to create a new canvas arose due to the deterioration in relations between Moscow and Kiev. According to Oleg Tony, Vice President of Russian Railways, the construction of a railway bypassing Ukraine is one of the main strategic projects for Russia at the moment, which should be implemented as soon as possible.

Scale of construction

The total length of the new section of the canvas will be 122 kilometers. The volume of public investment in the project is more than 50 billion rubles. The construction of the railway bypassing Ukraine is carried out using the most advanced technologies and in strict accordance with applicable Russian legislation. On the territory of the site will be located 5 power substations and about 60 kilometers of an external approach to provide energy - all this will completely electrify the track.

The construction of the railway bypassing Ukraine began with the help of 350 pieces of equipment provided by the Western, Central and Southern military districts and 600 citizens of the Russian Federation who are in military service.

Who is responsible for the result?

The beginning of the construction of the railway bypassing Ukraine

The construction of the railway bypassing Ukraine was entrusted to the organization Roszheldstroy, which is a subsidiary of Russian Railways, and to the railway troops of the Russian Federation. The responsibilities of the first group of employees include the creation of an external power supply system, the construction of traction substations, the installation of interlocking and signaling devices, the provision of energy, the laying of sleepers and rails. The competence of the second group of specialists includes the filling of the subgrade and the installation of small artificial objects - for example, culverts.

According to the assurances of the project managers, the progress of work is being closely monitored. Every day, experts from field laboratories are sent to the site, and professional sappers are assigned to the battalions.

Railway construction bypassing Ukraine: features and problems

According to the project, some of the future routes fall into private territory - sown fields. According to the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Dmitry Bulgakov, they managed to reach an agreement with the property owners, and in the very near future they will solve this problem.

Most of the territory of the new railway is located on fertile soil. Employees of the military departments carefully remove a layer of valuable soil and lay it away from the road section being built. Upon completion of all work, they plan to use the land for planting trees, shrubs and other green plants, that is, to create the beauty that Russia is so famous for.

Finish ahead of schedule

The implementation of the project is well ahead of schedule - the military personnel report on the construction of about 150 meters of the embankment per day. According to the responsible persons, while maintaining this pace, the work will be completed much earlier than the planned deadline - the end of 2017.

Railway construction bypassing Ukraine

The Ministry of Transport notes that this section of the railroad track would have been built in any case - regardless of relations with Ukraine. The need to implement the project was considered on the basis of considerations of the comfort of movement of Russian citizens. With the outbreak of armed conflict in the neighboring state, it was necessary to ensure security, which only served as a catalyst for the decision to build a railway section between Zhuravka and Millerovo.
