For scientists, the function of blood in the human body has always remained a mystery. They still solve this mystery, since the slightest deviations or violations of these functions lead to the death of a person in the shortest possible time.

The blood functions in the body are very diverse. The main functions of the blood are the transport of substances and the transfer of oxygen. Circulating through the blood vessels, it carries a considerable amount of useful substances for the body, in particular, oxygen, which is so necessary for the β€œbreathing” of every cell of all living things. Blood also carries beneficial substances throughout the body that dissolve in our bodies as a result of eating. These and many other blood functions in the body determine the health of everyone and their daily well-being. But do we often think about what we eat, what we drink, and in general, what we breathe? Probably not everyone will give a positive answer to this question.

Many of our diseases are due to the fact that we are not always serious about our lifestyle. Therefore, let's consciously approach this issue and think about what are the functions of the blood and how they affect the body.

A little more than half (approximately 55%) is accounted for by water in the blood. This clear liquid is called plasma and has a pale yellow color. The remaining 45% is blood. Red blood cells are called red blood cells, white cells are white blood cells. There are also blood plates in the blood , which are called platelets. The color of our blood depends on the presence of hemoglobin in it . Hemoglobin is a pigment saturated with oxygen and having a red color. Coming from the lungs to the heart through the arteries, hemoglobin is most saturated with oxygen and, spreading throughout all body tissues, it has a deep red color. Then the blood returns to the heart from the tissues of the body through the veins, and here it already has a darker color, because hemoglobin already has practically no oxygen. After this, the blood again enters the lungs, acquiring a scarlet color, because it is saturated with another portion of oxygen, and the process is repeated again.

But what is plasma?

Plasma is an aqueous solution in which both positively and negatively charged particles are present - these are sodium, potassium, chlorine, magnesium, and the quantitative and qualitative composition of these ions is similar to the composition of sea water. Also in the plasma there are nutrients, metabolic results, proteins, vitamins, hormones. They make up about 10%, and the rest is water.

Depending on the needs of the body, the number and formation of blood cells in the blood forming organs is constantly monitored and regulated. What are the functions of the blood, and, accordingly, its main components - red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets?

Red blood cells prevail among the components that circulate in the blood. Hemoglobin fills red blood cells very tightly . The function of red blood cells is to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide in blood vessels. Red blood cells are vital components for us in the process of respiration and, accordingly, the absorption of oxygen by us from the external environment.

What are white blood cells? They are a kind of "protectors" of our body from various infections that penetrate the blood. Periodically collapsing, the cells form unnecessary residues in the body, which the leukocytes also process. White blood cells are divided into monocytes, lymphocytes and granulocytes.

The blood functions in the body are extremely important. This is primarily the provision of each cell with all the important substances and the release of waste products and excretion. Only five liters of liquid, which provide our vital functions, are engaged in all this.
