useful invention is the cold accumulator. This device is capable of storing cold for a rather long time. By itself it is a container, inside of which there is a substance with high heat capacity. The principle of operation is as follows: first, the container is placed in a freezer, in which the substance is cooled for a long time to the desired temperature. After that, the device is able to take heat for a long time.
Cold accumulators are used as the main cooling elements in various refrigeration bags. They can also be used in domestic refrigerators to stabilize the temperature in the chamber. As a result, the compressor will turn on and off less frequently, the time for safe storage of products during a sudden outage will increase, and the power of freezing freezers will increase markedly.

The composition of the liquid that is poured into the plastic container is of particular interest in this regard. In fact, as a container, you can use a plastic bottle, a small plastic canister, etc., there is no problem. The main thing is to prepare the right liquid.
If you look at photos that depict the cold accumulator, you can see that the liquid inside it has a characteristic blue color. However, this shade is just the action of a dye. The main element in the filler is carboxymethyl cellulose - a weak colorless acid, which is often used as a thickener in the production of glue, cosmetics, toothpaste, food (as an additive with the code E466), etc. In principle, with a great desire, you can buy it in a package of 25 kg or more, however, it is easier to prepare a homemade substitute.
Theoretically, the cold accumulator will work with any composition whose
specific heat is of maximum importance compared to any other liquid. Here is one of the recipes for preparing such a liquid from improvised means:
1. In one liter of water you need to dissolve the maximum amount of sodium chloride.
2. All this is poured with three liters of pure water and the CMC wallpaper glue is added in such an amount as to bring the liquid to a jelly-like state.
3. The resulting composition is bottled in two two-liter bottles, which are then placed in the freezer.
The cold accumulator thus obtained is capable of storing a temperature of −12 ° C., and it can be controlled by changing the salt concentration. The less salt you add, the lower the temperature.
