Sapper village ... Have you ever heard of this place? No, this is not a simple settlement, it is something more. And many travelers even call it the connecting thread between the present and the past.

You must admit that the lessons of the war are too serious, and we must not forget about them. Many Russian cities and villages preserve historical monuments testifying to the victory over fascism in the 20th century during the Great Patriotic War.
The small village of Saperny (Leningrad Oblast) belongs to the Kolpinsky district of St. Petersburg. It got its name due to the fact that before the 1917 revolution the Imperial combat engineer battalion was stationed here. Today it is a very small town (about 1400 people). In the village there are only 2 streets: Dorozhnaya and Nevskaya.

What is he so famous for? The fact is that the shooting of the film "Stalingrad" by Fyodor Bondarchuk was recently completed here. From the point of view of filmmakers, the factory ruins that have been preserved here since the war proved to be very suitable for creating on-screen pictures of the destroyed Stalingrad.
After the filming was completed, the Saperny settlement map became quite popular in special retail outlets in our country. Why so?
Fans of historical reconstructions, tourists who are interested in new excursion objects, with great attention examine the village where the events of the terrible war are not perceived as belonging to the distant past: it seems as if thanks to the action of the time machine, the military of Stalingrad was able to be moved to the real situation.
Over 400 specialists worked on the creation of the scenery of the film "Stalingrad". The script of the film was written on the basis of diary entries of participants in the most difficult events of the battle of Stalingrad.
Section 3. Sapper settlement today
In 1955, there were barracks and barbed wire in Saperny. This arrangement of the village was explained by the fact that after the end of the war, captured Germans worked in these places. From 1957 to 1968, construction began on peacetime facilities. Residential buildings, an office, a club, a motor depot were built. Some of those builders are still alive today. Old-timers remember how joyful it was that they were building new houses, how wonderful the kindergarten was, and the names of their teachers were remembered — bright childhood memories that were dear to the heart!
Local residents have only enthusiastic memories of the post-war life, despite hard work, people lived as one family. Pleased with the most familiar conditions for modern people: a good bath, a first-aid post.
The memory of the heroic deed of the people during the war is carefully preserved. The former Lenspirtstroy plant is today a memorial place where residents lay flowers. Caring for veterans is an important area of social work these days. In Minesweeper, much attention is paid to this. Excursions, landscaping of the village, sporting events, maintaining order on a small beach near the Neva are just some of the activities of local activists. One of the projects that is supposed to be implemented is the construction of a chapel, where you can think about the sublime and leave for a while from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
