Application "Willow": miracles of Christ

Willow is an early spring plant. Its branches are decorated with soft buds and thin leaves.

In the Orthodox Christian Church, Palm Sunday is dedicated to this plant. On this day, people take consecrated willow rods in the church and gently beat them with their relatives and friends, wishing health, success and happiness. But you can make a willow with your own hands! Any kid will definitely like this idea.

Materials for this applique

In order to complete the application, you will need:

1. Thick cardboard of any color. The denser the cardboard will be, the tougher and stronger the “Willow” application will turn out. The color of the cardboard does not matter, the main thing is that it does not merge with other details of the craft.
2. Colored paper. You will need brown, gray, green and blue paper. Other colors can be used as desired.
3. PVA glue.
4. Scissors with rounded ends. The pointed ends are dangerous for the child.
5. A short pencil for drawing a contour along which details will be cut.
6. Vata. We need ordinary medical cotton wool, discs and tips of cotton buds will not give the desired effect.
7. Felt pens of different colors.

Beginning of work. Parts preparation

The application “Willow Branch” is feasible for independent work of little creators. Adults can only help by drawing outlines along which details will be cut.

1. Some thin twigs are cut from brown paper. They should be long and thin.
2. From green paper you need to cut a few thin short leaves, they should be 3-4 times more than branches.
3. A lot of small ovals are cut out of gray, they will be the willow buds. The buds should not be very small, because the “Willow” applique is made of cotton, and it is difficult to stick this cotton on small buds.
4. From a blue paper you need to cut a vase. It can be of any shape, but rectangular is best suited. Instead of blue, you can use paper of any color, the main thing is that it does not merge with the background.
5. Cotton need to be rolled up into small balls. Their number should coincide with the number of gray ovals.

Now the application “Willow” can begin to stick.

Application assembly

You need to start the assembly from the branches. They are glued in the form of a bouquet, intersecting with each other. However, below the branches should be collected in a bundle and not be knocked out of the total mass. This bunch should be smaller than a vase.

A vase is glued on top of it, it should cover less than half the length of a bouquet of twigs. If the vase turned out to be long, then it should be omitted below.

After that, on both sides the branches are glued over with gray buds from the end of the vessel to the very top. They can be glued in pairs close to each other. The branches with the kidneys should not be the same.

Between the branches, the application “Willow” is pasted over with green leaves. 3-4 leaves per branch. The leaves on each branch should be in different places, while it is advisable to glue them next to the vase.

End of work

If you wish, you can skip this stage, but then the application “Willow” will not look so original and natural.

1. Now you need to give the vase volume with felt-tip pens, outlining the edges of the vase with semicircular lines and painting the back wall of the vase.
2. Further along the entire body of the vase, you can draw rounded parallel lines and patterns repeating a semicircular shape. They will also add a vase to the volume and make it original.
3. Then glue cotton balls on the kidneys with glue. Then the bouquet itself will turn out to be voluminous.
4. Streaks are drawn on the leaves.

The application “Willow twig” is ready. It can be assigned to make a small child. Adult help here will be superfluous and will not allow the baby to show imagination. The work on the application itself is not dangerous.
