After a period of conservation, transportation, season change or long downtime of the equipment, the electric motor must be put into operation. Much depends on the correct start-up: service life, operability of protection and control circuits, number of subsequent repairs, etc. The operation of the machine begins with the commissioning. They should be organized on the basis of service instructions. Each company has its own attitude to their implementation. But the main work before the first start-up of the equipment is the same for most machines:
- First of all, organizational measures are carried out: a work permit is issued or an order to carry out these works, briefings and necessary tolerances are made, the composition of the team is formed.
- After that, the responsible personnel make the necessary shutdowns of the equipment and apply protective grounding to the line.
- The absence of voltage is checked both with the help of devices and by touching live parts.
- After that, you can check the electric motor. Let's start with a visual inspection and check the rotation of the rotor. The shaft should be easily rotated manually or, in the case of high-power machines, in another way. In this case, there should be no extraneous sounds from the bearings. Check for grease of the required grade, replace it if necessary.
- Now we remove the bar and check the absence of voltage on the power cable and power supply circuits of the anti-condensate winding. Disconnect the power cables from the machine.
- Dismantle the copper jumpers and check with a micrometer the resistance of each winding. It must be the same, must not differ from the passport data. We test windings with increased voltage using a special device. If everything is in order, we collect the required winding circuit.
- We also check the electric engine pre-heater and restore the electrical circuit.
- Using a similar scheme, we check the thermistors. After completion of the inspection work, pay attention to the tightening torque of the bolts and the absence of foreign objects in the bar.
- Close the lid. If the electric motor is explosion-proof, it is necessary to check the presence of a special seal and grease. All bolts must be tightened with the necessary force.
It remains to check the addressing of the line and test it with increased voltage. If all parameters are normal, you can deal with the control and protection circuit. Each electric motor must be protected by basic parameters: permissible overload current, overvoltage, etc. After checking the control and protection system for operability, we restore all switching and make a trial run.
It should also be noted that other types, for example, an electric DC motor, are checked in a similar way. Small differences in the verification and preparation for launch depend on various requirements in different companies.
