Sometimes it is interesting to look in a somewhat unusual direction - east of Moscow. Many do not even suspect how much worthy of the attention of a tourist of cultural heritage is located in the vastness of Siberia. This despite the fact that the historical capital of Siberia is known to everyone, this is Tobolsk. Many of its sights are also known, but in absentia, from films, photographs and canvases of painters. And in this city to this day there is very much to look at.
Tobolsk. sights
This city on the banks of the Irtysh for more than four centuries. But everyone who gets here, no matter where he came from to the city, is primarily struck by the famous Tobolsk Kremlin on the high bank of the Irtysh. A beautiful view of this symbol of the conquest of Siberia opens, by the way, from the porthole of an airplane landing at the local airport. From a height you can clearly see what Tobolsk is. Its sights in the form of Orthodox churches are clearly visible above the low traditional old buildings.
The central place in the city, of course, is the Tobolsk Kremlin. By the way, this is the only stone Kremlin beyond the Urals. It was erected in the upper part of the Trinity Cape at the beginning of the eighteenth century, replacing the wooden fortifications that previously stood here .
The compositional architectural dominant of the whole city is the Sophia-Assumption Cathedral, built in 1684. And this was the first stone structure of this scale in all of Siberia. The cathedral bell tower was built in about a century. It is made in the style of Russian classicism and its height is 75 meters. It offers a breathtaking view of both distant horizons and the city of Tobolsk itself. Its sights are visible at a glance. There are a lot of them in this relatively small, partially wooden town.
Sights of Tobolsk and their addresses without any problems can be found in many reference publications. But this is not particularly necessary, the indigenous inhabitants of the city are usually willing to show guests the way to any remarkable places and objects.
A lot of interesting and expressive in the lower, foothills of the city. In addition to the restored religious buildings, many examples of Siberian wooden architecture have been preserved in good condition. You can go down from the Kremlin along the wooden steps of the Sofia entrance. This historic staircase runs between the huge
retaining walls.Expressive locations for photography
There are a lot of such people in the city on the Irtysh. But here's what you need to remember when visiting Tobolsk: the sights, photos of which are widely represented on tourist sites, are most expressively obtained from the top points of shooting. We are talking about the Cape of Trinity towering over the city, on which stands the Tobolsk Kremlin.
Just behind the
Kremlin wall there is a convenient shooting area, from where most of the city is visible in all the details. Especially beautiful pictures from here are obtained in the evening lateral lighting.
