Today we will consider an innovative technology to reduce the amount of harmful substances from a car while driving. It is called "Start-Stop." This system has long been available to residents of America and other European countries, but it has come to the CIS quite recently. Today, this technology is present only in business-class cars, but soon manufacturers will equip middle-class cars with the novelty as well. The principle of the system is that when you click on a special panel, the “Start-Stop” button in the car activates an option that shuts off the engine at traffic lights and starts it again during the ride. All these actions occur lightning fast, so you will not feel any discomfort. These processes are effective in reducing the emission of harmful substances into the environment. Scientists have proved that it is precisely downtime at traffic lights of cars with the engine turned on that additionally pollutes the environment by 10-15%. Let's take a closer look at the Start-Stop system.

Different manufacturers have slightly different operating principles for this system. The pioneer was the Bosch company, which first began to integrate this system into automobiles. She provided a reinforced starter, calculated by the manufacturer for at least 150,000 cycles. The Start-Stop button, when pressed, before stopping the engine, controls and checks all the functional units of the machine: the gear lever, which should be in the neutral position, the position of the accelerator pedals, brakes and clutches. A control check of the battery charge is necessarily carried out, since the system is powered by electricity. If "Start-Stop" notices any deviation from the norm in these indicators, you will not wait for the long-awaited stop at the traffic light.

A few years after the introduction of this system on the world market, the Mazda team presented the world with an original version of the Start-Stop button. The option worked a little differently and had differences from the Boshevsky one. When the “Start-Stop” button is pressed, it reacts with lightning speed, after which the brake pedal is mechanically released so that the gas comes by injection into precisely those cylinders whose pistons are prepared for the engine’s working cycle. An additional crankshaft sensor is responsible for stopping the engine pistons , which, without complaints, performs the function assigned to it. By clicking on the “Start-Stop” button, you carry out a microexplosion that produces enough energy to crank the crankshaft and start the engine. And so that nothing interferes with the durability of your engine, each time the system changes the pairs of pistons that are involved in this operation. As you probably noticed, everything has already been thought out much more accurately and efficiently, so the “Boshevsky” invention did not take root.

It should be said that several dozen engine starts and stops per day is a very big load for the engine and the car as a whole. Therefore, in vehicles that are equipped with this system, the Start-Stop button is only an external indicator of protection. In addition, they are equipped with reinforced generators, starter and batteries that can withstand longer and more intense loads.
The "Start" button is different in different cars. Each manufacturer wants to be original in interior design, so they try to highlight it, highlight it on the surface, and also decorate it with decorative elements. The Start button should always have a smooth and pleasant surface for the driver’s hands, which gives it more charm and comfort.
As a result, the Start-Stop system makes the everyday life of a typical driver much easier and more convenient, besides this, it allows us to become a little closer to the clean world and the air around us!
