The shores of Lake Cheremenets are mostly high, often steep. In some places it comes to the surface of drywall - loose deposition of calcium carbonate.

The bottom of a natural reservoir is covered with sand. Vegetation in the water is rare, mainly reed and horsetail thickets, reeds grow on the shallows. Scientists have discovered that the Cheremenets Lake has a rare aquatic creature - a kladofor alga of spherical shape. The water is light blue and transparent, the top layer of which is heated to 25 degrees. In December, the Cheremenets Lake begins to freeze, and thaws in April-May.

How old is this reservoir, if the glorious army of Alexander Nevsky fought in his lifetime? Legends and legends were inherent in those days, one of which read: a vision appeared once to one peasant - the icon of St. Apostle I. The Theologian. Rumors reached Moscow Prince Ivan III, who ordered a monastery to be built on the western island. They called him Cheremenets. The monastic shelter owned the land and Lake Cheremenets itself, for fishing in which the monks took a fine from the peasants.

Later, freethinkers and those who needed to be removed away from the authorities were imprisoned in the monastery. Criminals, supposedly for correction, also got here. In 1929 the monastery was closed. Now there is a camp site "Cheremenets", which is popular with lovers of boat trips and exciting fishing. The air in these places is clean and fresh, the lake is surrounded by coniferous and deciduous forests, in which there are a lot of mushrooms and berries, which makes the Cheremenetsk lake especially attractive.

Sanatoriums and attractions

Due to the amazing climate, pine forests, sands with quartz content and the close proximity of the reservoir, several sanatoriums have been built on the coast that are successfully functioning.
