Vyborg embankment is a legendary place . The bridge along the right bank of the Neva was laid out in the middle of the 19th century . Where is Vyborg embankment located? In the areas of Primorsky and Vyborg. It begins at the Small Sampsonievsky Avenue and ends at the border with another embankment, on the Black River.
Location
Vyborg embankment in St. Petersburg has a combined numbering with Pirogovskaya, the continuation of which it is. On the other hand, it goes smoothly into Ushakovskaya. Parallel to the Vyborg on the opposite bank of the river runs Aptekarskaya embankment. Two bridges are laid between the banks - Kantemirovsky and Grenadier.
The embankment was created long enough for a city whose age barely passed for three hundred years - in the second half of the nineteenth century. It received modern borders and the name in the spring of 1887. In 1979, two more embankments were joined to it - Ushakovskaya and Pirogovskaya, but after ten years they again became independent. The electoral embankment was called back in the 18th century . At that time, this name was on the right bank of the river between the places where today Ushakovsky and Sampsonievsky bridges are located. A century later, the embankment acquired a roadway.
History of the waterfront
In the late eighties of the XIX century , two more embankments were allocated from Vyborgskaya: Sampsonievskaya and Stroganovskaya. The former was later called the Fokina Embankment, and today it is only part of Pirogovskaya Embankment. The second, located between the Ushakov bridge and the Black River, was named the Admiral Ushakov embankment in 1979. Today it is simply called Ushakovskaya .
In the mid- 1970s, a tunnel was created on the embankment. It was located near the Grenadier Bridge. With the help of this tunnel, the decoupling of car flows on Grenadier Street and the embankment itself was created. At the end of the same decade, the Vyborg embankment was transformed - it included three other embankments: Fokina, Pirogovskaya and modern Ushakovskaya (at that time - Admiral Ushakova). But ten years later she was returned to her former borders, leaving only Fokina and Pirogovskaya embankments united .

Repair of Vyborg embankment
Over the past centuries, pavements along the Neva have undergone more than one reconstruction. Vyborg Embankment is no exception. Nevertheless, in the last decade, this part of the historical center of the Northern capital has been in rather poor condition. The long-awaited repair was carried out not so long ago - in 2015. Road works caused hours of traffic jams. So, a restriction of entry at the Grenadier Gate was introduced for several days.
Repair of the Vyborg embankment has not been carried out for more than ten years. Restoration work cost the city budget in the amount of about 200 million rubles. Today, this part of the city is in excellent condition. Vyborg embankment, of course, is not as popular as, for example, Nevsky Prospect. Nevertheless, famous architectural monuments are located nearby. In addition, the Neva River is in some way a landmark of the Northern capital.
