Kuntsevo cemetery - a necropolis of the Soviet era

The cemetery is a mournful place. Everyone, passing through his gate, involuntarily thinks about a temporary stay on the earth's surface and about the eternal peace that is to come for each of the living people.

Kuntsevo Cemetery

Before God, everyone is equal, but people establish order in our imperfect world. Therefore, the dead are buried in different ways. And it’s good if the organizers of the mourning event are guided by those merits to society that the deceased acquired during his life. It happens differently when the issue is decided solely for money.

Today they no longer bury here. There is a columbarium, in it you can install an urn with ashes.

The Kuntsevsky cemetery in Moscow is not considered the most prestigious burial place, it is ahead of Novodevichye, Vagankovsky and, possibly, some others in an absurd at first glance rating. However, you cannot call him the last. A lot of famous people are buried here. Idle idlers rarely come here, only loyal fans visit the place of the last resting place of their idol.

Kuntsevo cemetery is located in the west of the capital. Once this place was not Moscow, the Spasskoye village stood here with its graveyard. In the XVII century, the first dead lay in this land. They were buried in the Church of the Savior on Setun, hence the first name (Setunsky), which lasted until the twenties of the last century. The name arose as a derivative of Kuntsev, a city that later became the Moscow district.

During the existence of the Russian Empire, the Kuntsevo cemetery took into its land many wonderful sons and daughters of our country, both famous and ordinary, who were not particularly famous for anything. Historically formed two parts - the old and the new. Today its area exceeds 16 hectares.

The old Kuntsevo cemetery sheltered the author of Dunno N.N. Nosova and known to those who remember the seventies, journalist Tatyana Tess. Reporter Dmitry Kholodov, who was tragically killed in the nineties, is buried here.

Here, the author of the memoirs about the Stalinist camps V.T. Shalamov is no longer argued by the unbending Bolsheviks, including G.M. Malenkov. Near the graves of warriors who gave their lives in the fight against fascism, lie scouts - a member of the "Oxford Five" Kim Philby and Ramon Mercader (Lopez), whose ice ax did not flinch, piercing the skull of Leon Trotsky. A memorial to the defenders of the motherland is crowned by a military site.

It is difficult to list all the famous cultural figures for whom the Kuntsevo cemetery became the last monastery. Graves of celebrities are in its new part.

Here everyone can visit those who made up the color of Soviet art. Actors Yevgeny Morgunov, Gleb Strizhenov, Alexander Kaydanovsky, Zinovy Gerdt, Valentin Filatov, Vladislav Dvorzhetsky are adjacent to musicians and bards Yuri Vizbor, Valery Obodzinsky, Eugene Martynov, Zhenya Belousov, songwriter M.L. Matusovsky. Filmmakers Protazanov, Gaidai and Basov rested here. The great hockey player Kharlamov is his company.

So, through the centuries, the rural Setunsky, and later Kuntsevsky cemetery became a real necropolis, collecting the remains of many famous people in its land.
