Tales of Lipetsk
The main asset of this city are healing mineral waters. There is even an entertaining legend about this, in which the Lipans talk about how Peter I visited the Lipetsk factories, and after the visit, according to a long Russian tradition, he celebrated his arrival with the factory workers. And he felt so bad in the morning, but he drank the water that the workers brought him, and he became much better. After this incident, the emperor ordered the extraction of mineral waters in Lipetsk.
City named after Peter I
The monument to Peter I, which stands on the eponymous square, is considered the symbol of Lipetsk. The monument is quite monumental, Peter is depicted somewhat boldly, he confidently steps forward, and this sight catches the eye. Also in the city there are many fountains that are illuminated in the evening, creating a truly fabulous atmosphere. Lipetsk is also called the city of terrorists, because it was here at the end of the 19th century that a congress of the people's food organization took place, whose members subsequently killed Emperor Alexander II. The monument to the people of Volunteers is located in the depths of the Lower Park.
Lipetsk region can also be interesting for tourists who love outdoor recreation. Argamach Archaeological Park, where you can sit in a comfortable yurt, take a steam bath, walk along the health path and visit the open-air museum, is a unique place in the Lipetsk region. The health trail includes a trip to the spring, several small rivers fording, a tourist atmosphere and good company.
Another unique place is the Ascension Cathedral in the city of Yelets, which was built according to the plan of the famous architect Konstantin Ton and is the third largest cathedral in Russia. Fans of church architecture will like a trip to the city of Zadonsk, which is considered to be the spiritual center of the region.
