A fairy is a fabulous inhabitant of the forest who can fly and can create magic around herself. For one of the fairy costume options, we chose the Ding Ding outfit. This is the main character of Disney cartoons. A cute blonde girl who is dressed in a leaf dress loves to help others.
What is the costume made of?
You should remember a few rules if you decide to sew a carnival costume yourself. Fairy Tinker Bell in the cartoon looks especially. Here are the main components of a complete image that must be created:
- dress or sundress;
- crown or horns;
- footwear;
- wings;
- magic wand.
In the cartoon, the fairy is dressed in a green dress with wings of the same color. If you stick to this list, then be sure to get a harmonious image of a real fairy. Next, we will stop at each point and consider in detail the technique of creation.
Dress
In the original, a Ding-Ding suit for a girl should be green. If you have a dress of this color in your wardrobe, you can use it after decorating it beforehand. The bottom of the dress must be lush, in contrast to the top.
The skirt can be sewn separately from the layers of tulle, if you can not find the dress. And as a top, a shirt in tone with a skirt is suitable. This option is more budgetary than the option of sewing a whole dress.
Please note: if a tight fit is used, then the lower edges of the skirt should be torn. This effect can be achieved with scissors, making cuts along the entire perimeter of the hem.
Thus, you can sew a Ding-Ding costume with your own hands using a green cloth. But if this is not possible, you can turn on imagination and decorate a dress of any color. For example, using green leaves cut out from thick fabric or other decorations of this color.
Headdress
In the cartoon, the fairy has short blonde hair, on which a hoop from a leaf flaunts. For our costume, you can choose a hat to your taste.
It can be a green hair hoop on which fluffy horns are attached, or a do-it-yourself hoop. To do this, you can use a tight rope, artificial hair, cardboard or other improvised material.
You can decorate a Ding Ding costume with a regular diadem, if you have one. By the way, such an accessory is very useful and versatile in the wardrobe of a little fashionista. The diadem combines well with almost all looks and costumes.
Do not forget to ensure that the headgear is sized and in no way crushed the child.
Hairstyle
You can create a fairy hairstyle yourself. You can wrap large curls and fix them with varnish. And you can braid two braids.
If the hair length allows, then you can complement the suit Ding-Ding with horns of hair. To do this, divide the hair into two parts, braid the tails, and then twist them. You can use special fixing grids.
The main rule when choosing a hairstyle is compatibility with a hat. That is, if you decide to use a hoop as a headgear, hair horns will be superfluous.
In addition to the hairstyle, beautiful jewelry, gold hairpins will do.
Footwear
In the original, green pointe shoes are suitable, but if you do not have the opportunity to purchase them, it does not matter. To complement the Ding-Ding costume, made with our own hands, we offer to decorate shoes. Suitable for the image of fairies are sandals, shoes and even Czech women.
To create a pointe effect, we advise you to buy a satin ribbon in color with shoes and tie it around your legs. An example of this option can be seen in the photo.
If you decorate ordinary shoes with themed details, you will get great shoes for the fairies. If the Ding-Ding costume is sewn using tulle, then you can use it to decorate sandals. If you twist the rosettes from this material, then they can be fixed on the shoe using liquid silicone glue.
The issue of tights remains open; donning them is optional. But if you decide to choose tights for a Ding-Ding suit, then give preference to white.
Wings
Without this fabulous addition, a fairy would not be considered real. Beautiful wings are an integral part of the image. The easiest option is to purchase ready-made wings in the store. But if you still decided to sew the whole Ding-Ding costume with your own hands, then the following tips for creating wings will be useful to you.
We need a stiff wire and nylon. As the last, old tights of a suitable color are suitable.
So let's get started. From the wire we make the frame, which can be of various shapes. A simpler option is to make two large wings. But you can step forward and make two large, and under them - two small wings.
After that, we tighten our frame with nylon; you can choose the color green, white or yellow. Now we proceed to the collection of our design, for this we connect the wings together.
Care must be taken to make the wings easy to put on. To do this, use a thin elastic band, which we sew at the junction. It should be something like a backpack. Finished wings decorate as desired.
Magic wand
And, of course, what is a Tinker Bell costume without a magic wand? This is a required attribute of a fairy with which she creates magic. You can make such a stick yourself, or you can buy it in a store.
