Beautiful mittens with knitting needles (jacquard): patterns for different sizes

Among all the accessories available for winter, it is hardest for craftswomen to knit mittens with knitting needles (jacquard). Schemes, even the simplest ones, mean simultaneous work with threads of different colors (at least two shades).

In the course of work, the loops are either in one color or in another. A thread that is not used for knitting remains on the wrong side of the fabric, and then it is picked up for knitting specific loops. As a result, on the front side you get a pattern made up of multi-colored loops, and from the inside - broaches from unused yarn.

The rule of the inside out

You need to work hard to create neat mittens with knitting needles (jacquard). Schemes and a description of the knitting process are not always accurate and often bypass one important nuance. To prevent too long broaches, you need to know how to twist the thread correctly.

For example, two colors are used in the work: white and blue. In one of the rows, every ten white loops should make one blue. If you simply stretch the blue yarn from one loop to another, then long broaches will form on the inside (their length will be equal to the width of ten white loops). In the finished product, especially if you make these mittens (jacquard) with knitting needles, the strings will become tangled when donning. This is bad, because when tightening the broach, the pattern on the front side can be deformed.

The problem can be solved as follows: knit three loops with white yarn, then twist the working thread with a non-working (blue) and again knit three loops of white. It is important to guess with tension so as not to overtighten the whole ornament and not to loosen the canvas (in this case, blue dots will be visible on white areas).

Such torsions are usually performed after 3-4 loops.

Knitting mittens for children (jacquard): patterns for different sizes

In order to knit the mittens shown in the photo at the beginning of the article, you will need 50 g of threads in the following colors:

  • beige dark;
  • ecru;
  • beige light;
  • pink;
  • ocher;
  • sea wave;
  • pistachio.

Of course, not all materials will be used, much will remain. They can be used on a hat or shirt front to complement the kit.

The diagrams below show knitting patterns. Mittens (jacquard) made in this style are suitable for children and adults, but because of the difference in size, the ornament will be different. So, designers have developed little schemes for children from 3 to 5 years.

There are only three large flowers. The pattern is intended for the manufacture of half the product (for example, for knitting the back of the mittens). To complete the entire accessory, the craftswoman should repeat the ornament twice.

The following scheme for children from 6 to 8 years.

Here, the height of the ornament remained unchanged, but additional loops on the sides were added to increase the width. An icon resembling a keg means that you need to make a crochet and in the next row knit an additional loop. In this case, it is necessary to twist the crochet when knitting so that a hole does not form.

After the main part of the pattern (three flowers) is ready, the loops added earlier should be shortened (an icon with a slash).

Large mittens for teens and adults

And the last scheme is for children from 9 to 12 years old and for adults.

The designer added another element to the main ornament: now you can see not three, but four flowers.

If the craftswoman wants to make even larger mittens with knitting needles (jacquard), the schemes need to be expanded according to the proposed algorithm: increase the width due to new loops or by adding a flower.

Next to the largest rapport is a diagram of adding loops to form a thumb (triangle). This is a necessary measure to help shape the mitten anatomically.

Work sequence

Given all the above aspects, knitting the right mittens should be done as follows:

  1. Dial the desired number of loops, distribute them on the toe spokes and close in a ring.
  2. Knit a cuff with any rubber band (about ten centimeters).
  3. Proceed with the jacquard and between the two adjacent rapports simultaneously with the main pattern, knit a triangle for the thumb. The width of the accessory should be equal to the size of the palm at the base of the thumb.
  4. When the triangle is formed, its loops are transferred to the knitting pin, and the jacquard continues to be knitted in a circle without taking into account the removed elements. That is, the width of the mittens will correspond to the width of four fingers folded together.
  5. When the pattern is over, you need to try on the product. When making large mittens, several additional rows may be required.
  6. When the canvas reaches the level of the little finger, you should begin to reduce. In four places of each row, they cut one loop (for example, the first two loops on each spoke combine one).

Knitting finish

When all the loops are over, go to knitting a finger. They collect the previously removed elements on two knitting needles and knit the required number of rows (in the course of work they try on the product). Then cut two loops in each row until you get a neat top.

So you knitted mittens with knitting needles (jacquard)! The schemes proposed in the article will greatly simplify your work.
