Winter is coming, we strive for homely warmth and comfort! As a rule, kitchens are the most habitable and favorite place in homes.
The atmosphere of our comfort is composed of many useful little things. Original hot felt coasters made of felt will definitely help to cheer you up. By creating sets of them, you can please your family and friends! Moreover, it is absolutely easy to make - call a child and do needlework with him!
Felt is a fabric with a dense texture, produced by wet felting from wool and fluff. Very similar to felt, but much more tender and softer. This material is very in demand in needlework, due to its properties:
- Very varied color palette.
- It has great strength and wear resistance.
- The edge does not crumble.
- There is no wrong side and front side.
- Very easy to use, does not require edge treatment.
- Sheets have a completely different size.
- Easy to sew or glue.
Simple do-it-yourself felt hot coasters
It is because of these characteristics that this material is very often used for children's creativity. Well, hot coasters made of felt are best done together with the children. This will give you great pleasure and joy, and the kids will be very proud of their products!
For work, prepare multi-colored sheets of felt, scissors, a needle and thread in the color of fabric or PVA glue.
First, draw shapes on the matter - circles, squares, stylized flowers - 2 pieces of sheets of different colors. Do not make them too large, for example, let the diameter of the circle be about 10 cm. Each figure should be cut with sharp scissors. Dumb will "chew" the fabric, and the cut will be sloppy.
Now put together 2 colorful pieces together and sew along the contour with small stitches or a seam “over the edge”.
If you don’t know how to sew, it doesn’t matter! Just glue one part with glue and attach the second to it. Put under a press and leave for some time to dry.
Felt "lemons" and "oranges"
For a set of citrus coasters, stock up on:
- Felt suitable shades - yellow, white, green and orange.
- Threads for embroidery in the tone of the fabric.
- Scissors and a needle.
Of the instruments you will need another pair of compasses and a pencil. To make one yellow stand for hot from felt, cut out a yellow circle with a diameter of 11 cm, 2 white circles with a diameter of 9.5 cm and 2 circles with a diameter of 8 cm. Cut the smallest circles of yellow felt into eight equal sectors.
Now collect everything in order - first there is a large yellow circle, then 2 smaller white ones and lay out 16 yellow sectors (2 on each) on top.
At the beginning of the process, we remove the largest circle and pin each double lobule with a pin to white circles. Sew in any convenient way.
We attach the resulting "lemon slice" with white threads to the largest yellow part. Done!
Having sewed several such coasters, you will assemble a nice set that you will not be ashamed to give!
Hot stand made of felt "autumn leaves"
The main decoration of the autumn season is beautiful leaves of very bright colors. For the decor and "revitalization" of the kitchen interior, it is quite possible to create autumn leaves from felt trimmings.
So, to work you will need:
- Felt rags of "autumn" colors - red, yellow, orange and green.
- Mouline thread and needle.
- Curly scissors (if there are none, use the usual).
We make patterns of leaves on thick paper. We will need 2 - more and less. The difference should be 1-2 mm.
We put the cut out patterns on the fabric, circle and cut. Choose different shades for combination in one leaf. For example, let in our case there will be a yellow detail - larger, and a red one - smaller.
Embroider streaks of yellow thread on a small part. Then change the thread to red and, having imposed patterns on each other, sew along the contour with any seam. Make sure that each stitch is even and neat - this will turn out to be a lot more beautiful.
We made one “autumn leaf” for a hot cup. You can give them any shape - heart-shaped or oval - to your taste!
Funny animals under the mugs
An unusually convenient thing will be hot supports made of felt in the shape of animals. Cute cats, dogs, pigs will be an excellent present for any occasion!
Stock up on the following materials:
- Colorful sheets of felt.
- Filler (it is better to take a synthetic winterizer).
- Quick-drying glue.
- Felt pen in black.
- Threads matching the shade.
- Small beads for the eye.
Firstly, we transfer the pattern to the fabric:
- The main part - 2 pcs.
- Head - 2 pcs.
- Sintepon parts - one per body and head.
- Muzzle - 1 pc.
Then cut with scissors and glue each small part in its place.
Insert a synthetic winterizer between felt and go along any contour with any decorative seam - the overcast is better.
It remains to draw the antennae, claws with a felt-tip pen or embroider them with threads.
So, changing the color of the felt and the configuration of the face, you can create a fun zoo on the kitchen table!
