Coaxial acoustics - is this the right choice?

New cars are often equipped with fairly simple speakers. They give neither deep bass nor pure treble. Of course, such speakers are also suitable for listening to news, however, for real music lovers such speaker systems will cause real disgust, because you won’t hear normal music in them. The acquisition of a normal speaker system is quite another matter. In this case, you need to choose one of two options: component or coaxial speakers.

coaxial speakers

Some become adherents of coaxial speakers. Such all-weather acoustics consists of several speakers, each of which reproduces sounds of a strictly defined frequency. Sound frequencies are separated by special filters - crossovers. They recognize the frequency of the signal and transmit it to a specific speaker. Sometimes, mainly in more expensive models of stereo systems, crossovers are designed in a separate case, which protects sounds from unintentional mixing.

For proper sound, you need to choose the right filter materials. Thanks to the filters, coaxial acoustics reproduces a wider than wideband frequency range. Often, such acoustics are also placed on special catwalks, which greatly improves the sound quality.

Another type of speaker system, more widely distributed among real car enthusiasts, music lovers is component acoustics. Like coaxial acoustics, it is widely used. The principle of its arrangement is very similar to that of coaxial acoustics, but there is one slight difference. If in the previous speaker system the speakers of all three frequency groups are located in one case, then in the component system the low-frequency, mid-frequency and high-frequency speakers are separated from each other. Consequently, the motorist receives three separate speakers, which are best placed close to each other. In this case, a good musical picture is obtained that will satisfy even the most discriminating listener.

weatherproof acoustics

There are a few basic tips that are important when choosing any coaxial speaker system. Firstly, the main thing is to choose the speakers by their sound, and not by their appearance. Of course, the design of the speakers should be suitable for the design of the car interior, but this is not as important as the correct sound. Secondly, remember that speaker crossovers are a major workpiece. The degree of sound separation depends on the number of filter elements, because the more they are, the better the sound. Thirdly, regardless of the type of speaker system (component or coaxial speakers), it is desirable to use them with an external amplifier. In this case, the sound will be better. If the speaker system is connected to a car radio or other head unit, pay attention to the sensitivity of the speaker, since the maximum sound volume will depend on it. Recommended sensitivity - from 92 decibels.
