Many people use such a traditional, but not losing popularity winter accessory, like mittens. The knitting pattern of a similar product can be almost any.
The easiest option is to work with the front surface. But those craftswomen who have some experience, elementary ornaments, most likely, managed to get bored. In this case, they will help out interesting patterns for knitting beautiful mittens with knitting needles, which will create not only a practical, but also an attractive thing.
Of course, such work requires more time and effort, but it's worth it. Especially if you need gift mittens. The knitting pattern may include various elements and techniques:
- Jacquard.
- Braids.
- Openwork.
This article will consider two models that are perfect for wearing in the winter, and for a gift.
Yarn selection
For mittens, it is worth choosing the warmest of all available types of yarn. Given that this is the only protection for the hands while in the cold, it is better to dwell on woolen material. If the craftswoman prefers mohair or angora, then you can use such strings.
Too thick yarn is undesirable, since it will not allow to fully reveal the full charm of the pattern, especially if the knitting pattern of children's mittens is used. The optimum thickness is 200-250 m / 100 g.
Where to start knitting
In the photo shown at the beginning of the article, mittens with a volumetric pattern. For this model, yarn of absolutely any color and a combination of several shades are suitable.
The presence of yarn in rapport, due to which the formation of small holes occurs, allows you to call the pattern openwork. Although in fact, the holes are small.
If the craftswoman wants to perform knitting of openwork mittens with knitting needles, rapport patterns should be located not only on the back, but also on the inside of the product.
To work, you need a set of five short knitting needles. First, loops for the first row are collected on two of them (their number is calculated according to the control sample).
Further, all the loops are distributed on four knitting needles and knit elastic in circular rows. To later get to the desired pattern, you should correctly start the mittens: the knitting pattern A.2 depicts the order in which the cuff is made.
Transition to the main part
At a height of 10 cm from the set edge, you should stop the gum and go to knitting a pattern.
More than half of the canvas is tied with a front smooth surface: the inner part and thumb. To decorate, knit the pattern on the back of the mittens. The knitting pattern of the ornament is shown in the figure above and is marked with the symbol A.3.
Making Thumb Raises
We start adding new loops after we knit about five centimeters of the main part of the canvas. Mark with a marker one loop at a distance of 3-4 loops to the left of the strip of ornament (in the manufacture of the right mittens). Then through a series we make additions:
- One additional loop to the one marked with a marker, and one after.
- Then through the row one loop is added before the one that was added in the previous row of the first. The second is added after the loop, which was added to the second.
- Additions are made until a triangle about four centimeters high is connected.
Then all the loops of the triangle are transferred to a knitting pin or thick thread and left to wait.
The work is continued in circular rows, using the same number of loops that were on the knitting needles before knitting the triangle.
Shutdown
When the fitting shows that the total height of the canvas reaches the end of the little finger, it is time to start cutting.
Having laid the mittens on a flat surface so that the triangle for the finger is on the left (when knitting the accessory on the right hand), two extreme loops on the knitting needles should be noted: left and right.
Next, in each row, knit together (shorten) the loop before and after the marked loop. So in each row the canvas will decrease by four loops. As a result, a neat flat cone should form.
Knitting thumb
Now we should return to the loops transferred to the knitting pin. They are distributed between two knitting needles and knitted to the desired height, constantly performing fitting.
Then sequentially cut four loops in each row. You should get a pointed tip of the mittens.
The described principles of adding and cutting loops are relevant regardless of which pattern the craftswoman uses.
Jacquard knitting
Below is a photo of interesting, but rather complicated mittens.
They are made of jacquard ornament of two colors.
Now, various variations of patterns with owls have gained great popularity. They can be used to knit mittens. The owl, the knitting pattern of which is shown below, is also made in the jacquard technique.
It can be placed on the back of the mittens, and the inner part is tied with the front surface.
The main feature of jacquard patterns is that a non-working thread is laid between the loops on the wrong side. To avoid the appearance of broaches, it is necessary to interweave the working and non-working threads.
This is usually done at intervals of several loops (from three to five). It is also necessary to monitor compliance with the correct tension. If you loosen the knitting, it will be too loose, if tightened, you can get a product much smaller than planned.
Knitted mittens should not be steamed with an iron - they will become soft and lose their shape. It is best to simply wash them in warm water and dry them unfolded.
