In sewing, any complex thing is done on the basis of the usual pattern. A complex model is built from a simple model, various elements are added. The output is wonderful shorts for the summer or for the matinee. But in order to proceed to tailoring a complex model, it is worth starting with a simple one. Each next product will be better and better.
Work with measurements
In order to build a pattern of shorts for a girl, you need to take measurements. In this case, you need to determine the length of the product and measure the circumference of the hips. Measurement is carried out on the most convex points. We will work with half measures. If the circumference of the hips (OB) of the child is 54 cm, then we will work with the number 27 (half the measure).
Additionally, auxiliary calculations will be needed. To do this, it is necessary to divide OB on 4 and 8.
- V / 2 = 27 cm;
- V / 4 = 13.5 cm;
- V / 8 = 6.75 cm.
To build a pattern of shorts for a girl, you still need to decide on the length of the product (CI), for example, 30 cm.
Building a pattern grid
First of all, we will build a pattern of shorts for the girl. It is necessary to build a grid of blanks. To do this, draw a waist line (AB). It is equal to half OB plus a few centimeters for freedom of fit: from 4 to 9 cm.
To fit, you need to add a few centimeters so that the shorts are free. When squatting, they should not diverge at the seams. The freer the shorts will be, the more freedom is given to fit. We will add 5 cm.
AB = 27 + 5 = 32 cm
Divide the waist line (it is equal to OB + 5 cm per fit) by 2. Note that the waist line and waist circumference are two different concepts and here we do not work with the measurement of waist circumference. From all three points down we measure DI + 3 cm to a hem 30 + 3 = 33 cm. The vertical line in the middle of the grid will become the side lines.
All the lower points need to be connected among themselves - the resulting line will be the bottom line of the grid.
The next step in the construction of the mesh will be the mark of the step segment, it is laid down down from the marked waist at a distance equal to OB / 2 - 6 cm, i.e. 27 - 6 = 21 cm (see diagram below). Such a dimensional grid approximately corresponds to shorts for a child 5-7 years old. Shorts for girls of 12 years old are sewn in the same way, but taking into account a different OB (about 70 cm).
The stride line (LS) is drawn horizontally, it is parallel to the waist line (LT) and parallel to the bottom line (LN) of the grid (located between LT and LN).
Construction of the pattern of the front
To draw the waist line in front, it is necessary to postpone 1 cm from point B. And mark the new waist from the top point along the barrel to 1 cm.
The front seam line is drawn on the right side of the mesh and extends beyond it. According to the auxiliary mark, we postpone 13.5 cm (these are the auxiliary measures that we have in the calculations), we get point B.
Set aside 6.75 cm away from the step line and get the point G. Points B and D need to be connected with a smooth mark. Point G connects to the bottom right point in the corner of the grid - this is the step line.
Now we are working with a side segment. From the bottom up, we postpone three centimeters - point D. It is also connected to the right point along the grid line from below. The front half of the shorts pattern for the girl is ready.
Backrest construction
According to this pattern, you can sew shorts for a girl of 12 years old, for small children and even a teenager. The algorithm is the same, only the measurements change.
Build the bottom line of the back half of the shorts. Draw a smooth mark from point D to point E and draw it further than the point by 3.5 cm.
To the left we extend the step line by 13.5 cm (auxiliary measures), mark the point G. Connect this mark with a straight line with the bottom line.
The mark of the seat is constructed in this way: from point A, we postpone 10 cm, and to the right side 3 cm. Through the obtained sections, draw a line. At the top we extend it by 3 cm, and at the bottom we connect it with the point G, but 1 cm shorter.
To draw a belt line, it is necessary to connect the upper point of the step seam and the upper point of the seat line. This pattern is ideal for stitching summer shorts with an elastic band.
Work with a pattern
You can already work with a pattern in this form. If you wish, you can cut it along the side line, then the details of the front and rear will need to be issued separately.
If the pattern is not cut, then you need to cut out only two details. To do this, the fabric folds with its face inward. In this case, the side line must pass strictly along the shared thread. The part is cut out with allowances on the sides and on the upper mark. Knitted shorts are most often sewn with elastic. Therefore, for it, you need to put up 3 cm of the allowance on the wings.
At the bottom of the product, just add 3 cm to the hem. In our case, we laid this allowance when constructing the mesh. But you can add this length to the finished pattern. This option is also correct.
Jewelry on girl's shorts
Simple shorts for a boy are fine. But the girls are great fashionistas and from a very young age they admire in front of the mirror and want to be worn beautiful things.
To add beauty, there are many options. You can decorate the product with simple and complex elements.
The easiest option would be to use stripes. The fabric stores have departments that sell a lot of great gizmos. If you go there on a tour, then 100% will be able to find for yourself what you need. Among these options are sewn flowers, cute little animals, fruits and vegetables. Such stripes have a size of 3-15 cm, so that it will be possible to choose suitable stickers and patterns according to the parameters of the shorts.
If you decide to sew knitted shorts, then it is better not to make extra stripes on them, the fabric stretches while sewing. If the line goes unevenly and needs to be torn, then after the needle there are large holes. Sometimes the thread of weaving breaks and a torn mark remains, from which the arrow can go. But shorts made of knitwear can also be decorated, for example, with stickers made of stones. Previously, the decor had to be individually laid out with tweezers individually and come up with a pattern. Today this is not necessary, you can buy a finished product from stones on a transparent basis. On pebbles there is a special glue that melts from the temperature, and the pattern adheres well to the fabric.
And another simple option is to sew openwork lace along the bottom of the shorts. The selection of colors is huge. You can choose a braid for plain fabrics, and fabrics with patterns. It is possible to sew a quilling from the remains of fabric at the bottom. Such an element will decorate the product well. With such a simple decor, even the simplest shorts will look original.
