Perhaps that is why many people think, having heard the word Webasto, that this is a pre-heater. In fact, this is the name of a well-known German company developing a wide range of automotive equipment.

The name of the company Webasto did not accidentally become a household name for a whole class of heating equipment. Climate optimization in vehicles, the company took up one of the first. Liquid heaters for buses and cars have been produced since 1935, for trucks - since 1939. Since 1950, the production of autonomous heaters has been mastered . Since 1965 air conditioners have been produced for freight transport, buses. Since 1995, much attention has been paid to integrated climate systems for heavy vehicles, buses, and special equipment.

Webasto - what is it?

Created almost a century ago, the German company Webasto is a leader in the production of automobile roofs and climatic equipment. The name of the founder of the company and the name of the town of Stockdorf near Munich, where its headquarters has been located since 1907, formed the abbreviation: WilhElm BAier + STOckdorf = WEBASTO.

In the production of air conditioners and heaters, advanced technologies are used. Webasto is the first manufacturer of solar-powered sliding roofs . Environmentally friendly technology helps save car energy. Technological developments in this area have encouraged engineers to create innovative sliding body elements - in particular, door systems and spoilers of a new design.

Reference heaters

Webasto heater warms up the engine quickly and efficiently. This not only saves the time for the motor to reach operating temperature, but also reduces harmful emissions. A warmed-up engine wears out less and less often fails. Thanks to the heater, the windshield quickly thaws, and the driver will not have to clean it in the cold. It is Webasto heaters that are already installed on the assembly line in Mercedes S, Range Rover, Audi A6 / A8, Volvo S80, VW Phaeton, Maybach, Land Rover cars.

High quality is achieved by a large-scale test program. In a special climate chamber, it is checked how quickly the engine and interior warm up. At the MTBF stands, when operating with maximum loads, the heater operation is simulated, which is equivalent to 15 years. A corrosion test is carried out by spraying with water and salt spray.

Do not be afraid of increased fuel consumption. An hour, on average, a device burns 0.6 liters of fuel for heating. However, a warm engine consumes less gasoline (diesel), compensating for the loss.

Webasto heaters have several advantages:

• Dimensions and weight have become smaller, and the heating process is more efficient and more stable.
• Studies in the acoustic laboratory show that the noise level during heating is minimal.
• Before assembly, the dimensions of each part are checked so carefully on a special Webasto 3D measuring machine that this ensures the reliability of the devices.
• When the heater is connected only to the interior heating, the windshield completely thaws in 30 minutes.
• For each car model, an optimal set of basic kit, controls and installation kit is developed. At the same time, standard sets are also suitable for installation on most car models.
• Remote control or programmed by a digital timer.

Principle of operation

1. The heater is connected to the cooling circuit of the car.
2. Heats the coolant.
3. Pumps it through the radiator of a standard heater.
4. Hot liquid is also pumped through the motor, warming it.

Webasto Connection

This is a rather complicated, responsible, scrupulous process. First disassembled in front of the car. Then, some components and assemblies of the engine compartment are removed so that it is more convenient to mount the heater. When installing from the gas tank to the heater, an independent fuel path is carried out. Only high-quality components must be used, especially the requirements for hoses. Incorrectly executed installation is fraught with fire of the car!

Despite the apparent simplicity of Webasto preheaters, installation should be done at certified centers. Workers must be trained, and the center itself must have the appropriate permission. With self-installation (or in non-certified workshops), you can say goodbye to a guarantee for both the car and the installed Webasto equipment.

1. The installation location is selected (for example, behind the battery).
2. The mounting bracket is mounted to the mount of the engine mount.
3. Since the fuel pipe will interfere with the installation, it must be shifted to the side.
4. A boiler is attached to a pre-prepared metal plate.
5. An exhaust pipe is installed near the checkpoint, then a divider is fixed.
6. The heater is connected to the Lada fuel system. For this, the fuel pump is mounted on the pins of the ABS unit, and the hoses are attached to the standard fuel line. Then an insert is made to the fuel return pipe.
7. The cooling system and wiring are connected to the heater boiler. First, the pipe connecting the thermostat to the stove is removed and connected to the inlet fitting on the boiler. Then the pipe that comes with the heater is connected to the thermostat fitting. After installation, it is recommended to remove the air plug.
8. The cabin is set on timer.
9. The last step is to connect to the battery.
10. Due to the accumulated air in the system, the device may not work the first time. It may take several attempts for the first launch.

Air top 2000

In addition to prestarting heaters, the company is famous for interior cabin heaters for truck cabs, vans, camper vans, buses, cabins for small boats. The optimal solution to winter problems is a compact, economical, fuel-powered car heater. One of the most popular is Webasto Air Top 2000. It works immediately after startup or with a programmable timer. Moreover, it can function without the engine turned on.
