Google knows more about you than you can imagine: all the passwords, which sites you visited, Internet preferences and which advertisements you most often view. You will be surprised, but the service also knows where and when your phone was. The location history of the Android device is carefully and constantly recorded by the browser.
What is Google Location?
While your phone is in your pocket, Google services detect and record the location every 45 seconds. The location is calculated using Wi-Fi or GPS. Anyone can take your phone and wonder where you went and where you were.
Android’s location history does not automatically clear. All information about the movements of the mobile will be stored until the user decides to delete it. Moreover, data is recorded even with Wi-Fi turned off. Of course, the service has its positive aspects. Google analyzes each route and makes the best, warns of traffic jams.
Knowing your Android location history is useful when traveling when you get lost and can't find your way back. Using the service, you can easily navigate on a Google map, find the nearest pharmacy or gas station. The application will tell you where to go on a sightseeing tour and even show photos of the most interesting places in the city. If you are not worried about privacy, the service will be an excellent assistant on every trip.
How to enable the service
Gets Google location history of Android phone only from devices on which the service is activated. You can activate the service if you have an account in the search engine. If you don’t have one, go to the browser and click “Create Account” in the upper right corner. Enter the address of your mailbox and create a password.
After the account is registered, go to your phone’s settings, select “Location”. A switch appears at the top of the screen and you need to set it to "On". The service is activated and you can view the location history of the Android phone.
Setup and shutdown
"Google" allows you to adjust the accuracy of determining the coordinates. The user can choose one of three modes:
- via GPS - this is the slowest and most unprofitable way that quickly consumes the battery power of the phone;
- Use all available sources, including network, satellite, and Wi-Fi access points
- only network coordinates is the most economical mode, providing high accuracy thanks to geolocation from Google.
If you are afraid that someone will see the Android location history, you can delete or change it at any time. The most radical method is to simply turn off the service through "Settings", "Location", "Off". Another way is to partially or completely clear the story.
To do this, go to “Location History” and select “History Management”. The service launches Google Maps, and a sign with three dots appears on the top of the screen, which you need to click on. In the menu that opens, go to settings and select the desired cleaning option. Data is deleted permanently. If you are not sure about the solution, select partial cleaning and set a strong password on the phone.
