The preservation and enhancement of the natural wealth of local nature and vegetation formed the basis for the idea of ββcreating this institution, which was opened as part of the Research Institute for the Protection and Conservation of Nature.

During the years of World War II, vegetable gardens were planted on the territory of the Botanical Garden and tree crops were cut down. This time caused great damage and called into question the continued existence of the botanical garden. But in the future, the main territories were restored and put in order.
Currently, the Botanical Garden (Samara) is the only one in the entire territory of the Middle Volga. Here, basic scientific research and work on the study of rare plants of the region and the cultivation of new varieties are carried out. The government issued a decree conferring on this place the title of state natural monument.
The Botanical Garden (Samara) is currently the main scientific and research base for Samara State University. On its territory, events and lectures of various universities of the world are held, which cooperate with the Botanical Garden on various issues.
Residents and visitors of the city should definitely visit the Botanical Garden (Samara). Its operating mode depends on the day of the week. From Monday to Thursday, visitors are open from 8 to 17 hours. On Friday, the entrance to the territory is open until 12 noon. The Botanical Garden is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
